On June 30, 2020, Gehua Cable, together with China Radio and Television Hebei Company and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, signed a sponsorship agreement for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, officially becoming the "official supplier" of cable TV services, committed to building a cable TV private network dedicated to serving the Current Winter Olympics, serving delegations, IOC officials, registered media journalists, athletes and venue operation teams.

According to reports, the Winter Olympics private network includes front-end systems, live broadcast and interactive platforms, transmission systems, transmission networks, signal distribution networks, terminal systems, etc., covering the three competition areas of Beijing and Hebei, with a total design length of 505.3 kilometers, a total of about 4,000 cable TV terminal points, involving a total of 32 venues and venue groups, mainly including all the competition venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the venues of the opening and closing ceremonies, the Winter Olympic Village, the Awards Square and other non-competition venues.

Since the planning and design stage, Gehua Cable has applied innovative thinking, adopted the principle of top-level architecture, overall design, construction, operation and maintenance, and served the Beijing Winter Olympics efficiently, quickly and accurately in the most scientific and reasonable way. It is reported that the Winter Olympic cable TV private network is based on a two-way ring network, which can connect the two places and three competition areas. At the 2018 IOC Technical Review, IOC experts raised the hope of wirelessly viewing cable TV services in some venues. In order to fully highlight the spirit of scientific and technological innovation in the radio and television industry, at this Winter Olympic Games, Gehua Cable created two major scientific and technological services of "wireless CATV" and "digital low-latency live broadcast", realizing the precedent of watching cable TV through wireless means for the first time in the history of the Winter Olympics, and providing TV signals with lower latency and higher definition.

The "Wireless CATV Service" 5G core network plans to use the 3.3~3.4GHz indoor 5G band and the 4.9~4.96GHz outdoor 5G band. This technology has created the first time in the history of the Winter Olympics to watch cable TV wirelessly, and the service will be provided in the designated area of the Shougang Big Jumping Stadium during the games, and the staff can watch the games on mobile terminals such as laptops and tablets for a better viewing experience.

At previous Olympic Games, cable television services have provided athletes, staff and media reporters with local ultra-low latency live signal services. At this tournament, Gehua Cable realized digital low-latency transmission through ultra-low latency encoding and decoding technology, providing video services with lower latency and higher definition in a digital manner, with a delay of less than 350 milliseconds, making the performance of digital tv live broadcast services on the Winter Olympic stage reach a new height.

"The construction of the cable TV private network for the Winter Olympics is huge in scale and the task is heavy, and Gehua Cable needs to carry out the construction of a private network for 8 competition venues and 15 non-competition venues, almost every venue includes the basic maintenance and system integration of the local cable TV room of the venue, the internal access network of the venue, the external trunk cable and cable and many other design and construction tasks." A Gehua cable worker who is fighting in the front line of the construction of the Winter Olympics told reporters their "front-line" story.

Affected by the epidemic, the construction process has been interrupted several times, resulting in the actual construction period being continuously compressed, the demand is constantly adjusted, the plan is constantly changing, and the construction difficulty is increasing, so all the engineering and technical personnel involved in the implementation of the project have been working overtime for many years and have made great efforts. In particular, the staff of Yanqing Alpine Ski Resort braved the low temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius and resolutely overcame the three problems of difficulty in going up the mountain, difficulty in transporting goods, and poor construction conditions, and completed the construction task on time.

In response to the winter Olympic games test match and venue operation and maintenance support work requirements, Gehua Cable's entire Winter Olympic support team includes 6 support groups, 36 teams, a total of 454 people, has been started according to the standard of the game, of which 148 people set up 17 venue support teams (80 people in the closed loop) and 1 emergency support team, on January 23, according to the work deployment of the Olympic Organizing Committee, the operation and maintenance support work closed loop was fully launched. The 80 venue operation and maintenance support personnel dispatched by Gehua Cable and 6 members of the front-end team in Yanqing have all entered the closed-loop work state, officially starting the operation and maintenance support work during the Winter Olympic Games. At the same time, through the overall coordination of China Radio and Television, 24 engineers from the sister provincial network companies all arrived at their posts before January 22 to participate in the operation and maintenance of closed-loop venues.

In fact, since the end of November 2021, the venue support teams have successively stationed in the field, implemented the construction of cable TV points and set-top box installation during the game, familiarized themselves with the working environment of the venue, and integrated into the venue technical team, during which the average daily working hours of the venue operation and maintenance support staff are as high as 14 hours.
