On February 7, South Korea's antitrust regulator announced that German automaker Mercedes-Benz and its South Korean subsidiary had imposed a fine of 20.2 billion won (about $16.9 million) for false advertising of diesel passenger car exhaust emissions. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Mercedes-Benz installed illegal software on 15 models aimed at manipulating emissions test data. In addition, Mercedes-Benz claims that its vehicles emitted emissions from August 2013 to December 2016 to the EU Level 6 emission standard.
