IT Home February 7 news, it is said that Apple has considered adding face recognition to the new 24-inch iMac, but long before installing face recognition on the MacBook Pro, the Mac manufacturer plans to add this biometric security feature to the desktop Mac display.
Apple introduced notch designs in the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro, which opened up the possibility of bringing Face ID from the iPhone to the Mac.
Mark Gurman said in Bloomberg's Power On newsletter that Apple's first model to really consider using Face ID in a Mac is not the MacBook Pro, but the 24-inch iMac. "The original M1 iMac itself contains Face ID," it is said.
IT Home learned that while the iMac doesn't have bangs, its display is thick enough to hold Face ID components. In contrast, the MacBook series has a "fairly thin screen" capable of carrying a FaceTime HD camera, but not deep enough to support facial recognition.
Because the Macbook is so thin and light, Gurman believes that if Face ID is actually available on a Mac, it will "appear first on an iMac or external display." Apparently, Apple "has certainly been working on this, but time will tell if they'll release it." ”
Gurman's message echoes previous revelations about the issue, such as a January 2021 report that Apple has been working on the feature, but is unlikely to launch it in 2021. In July of the same year, it was predicted that Face ID would be transferred to the Mac family within a few years.
