My name is Lin Na, and I am a student at the Chinese Language School of the Second Chinese College of Foreign Studies in Beijing, from Sao Tome and Principe. Yesterday, at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the program "Salute to the People" was performed by me. Did you see me walking in a blue down jacket? It was just a few simple steps, but we "walked" for 122 days.
The show I attended was called "Salute to the People." It's more of a performance art than a show. Young people from China and abroad walk from the south to the north, and the picture scroll unfolds under their feet, among them there are heroes of the war, athletes of winter sports, and cute children, which is a tribute to the people of the world. Although the performance is simple, that is, walking, it is difficult to practice, and nearly 80 friends from all over the world walk together from one side of the National Stadium Bird's Nest to the other, in unison, maintaining a horizontal row. From the beginning of October, we began to practice, starting with less than 30 people, and then more and more, more and more difficult, sometimes dreaming of walking, as if in a dream to hear the "five, four, three, two, one, start" password coming from the headphones. It took 122 days, and it was so beautiful to finally wait for this day! It's wonderful! It was the most wonderful experience of a lifetime! In more than 40 rehearsals, I have not taken leave, because I know that if I take a leave of absence, it will affect the overall effect, and my classmates and teachers are the same, they have hardly missed a training session, they all want to do their best to perform well, and they all cherish the opportunity to participate in this Winter Olympics.

The most memorable was on January 22, the second row, we set off from less than 7 a.m. and walked into the National Stadium in the snow. Along the way, I met many actors who participated in the opening ceremony, including people in their 70s, and children aged five or six, who saw that we were "foreigners" and greeted us warmly: "Hello! Hello！ "I think all the effort is worth it, although the training is hard and tired, but there are so many people together, how proud and romantic we are to work for the same thing!" And I think this kind of thing is only possible in China. Only unity can succeed.

This year is my fourth year in China, and I like China more and more, and I like the city of Beijing more and more. I was born near the equator, where it was hot, there was no winter, and there was no snowflake. Whenever I see the snow scene on TV, I will yearn for it, and I want to feel the ice and snow myself, touch it, lie down, and step on it. When I was a child, my father told me that China is a very good country and should go and see it. At that time, I didn't know what China was like, but I was just curious about my father's words. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to study in China, which made me see the beauty of China, and even more fortunately, I also got the opportunity to participate in the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. During the interview of the actors at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, the teacher asked me why I came to participate in this event. I said, my country has not yet participated in the Winter Olympic Games, I want them to know that even if it does not snow in their hometown, they can participate in the Winter Olympics, the Olympic spirit belongs to all of us, just as the earth belongs to all of us, and the future belongs to all of us.

Thanks to my school, Beijing Second Foreign Chinese College and the Organizing Committee of the Winter Olympics, I have the opportunity to stand on the stage of the opening ceremony, just like the song "We have the same expectations" in our performances, looking forward to a good Winter Olympics and looking forward to a better future.
