Aston Martin announced that it would abandon the internal combustion engine and sell only electric or hybrid vehicles from 2026

IT House February 4 news, the British luxury supercar brand Aston Martin announced that from 2026, only electric or hybrid vehicles will be sold, when the internal combustion engine products will be phased out.

According to the Financial Times, Aston Martin CEO Lawrence Strool said in a conversation with the Vehicle Authority that "by 2026 we will be fully electrified" and that it does not intend to put its ten-cylinder engine into service anytime soon.

Unlike Bentley and Rolls-Royce, which "want to sell only pure electric vehicles from 2030 onwards", Aston Martin has not yet set a specific date for the complete phase-out of the internal combustion engine. Strohr said: "I can't say that 100% of Aston Martin customers want an electric car".

"People still want the smell and noise [of the internal combustion engine model]. We're going to gradually make the all-electric transition, but [until then] we're going to continue to offer [electric and hybrid]," Stroor said, "there will still be electrified components, but if someone wants to use an internal combustion engine in 2028, it's not impossible." ”

Tobias Moers also added that the brand plans to continue production of V-12 vehicles until 2026 or 2027.

According to previous reports, the first pure electric Aston Martin cars are expected to begin to hit the market from 2025, and these first models are said to be the next generation of front-engined DB11 sports cars, but the layout details of the electric powertrain in the internal combustion engine vehicle are not yet clear.
