Hundreds of students studying in China dedicated their voices to the Winter Olympics

According to Xinhua News, the opening of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has entered the countdown, and the passion and dream of the Olympic Games will once again ignite the land of China. The Chinese and English theme song "Hope of Ice and Snow", sung by the Chinese "Cloud" Choir composed of 100 international students studying in China, was officially launched, using the song as the medium and singing in the clouds, conveying the good wishes of international students from all over the world for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

"Hope of Ice and Snow" was jointly composed by Chinese and foreign youth, and the songwriters from China, South Korea and Mexico, and more than 100 students from more than 50 countries in 24 universities in China participated in the singing.

From Heilongjiang in the north to Guangdong in the south, from Shanghai on the banks of the Huangpu River to Xinjiang in the northwestern frontier, the foreign students who participated in the "cloud" chorus are studying in colleges and universities throughout the country, and some international students are still abroad. IOC President Bach said: "The Olympic Games cannot solve all the challenges in the world, but it inspires us to solve them in friendship and solidarity." "International students in China are also practicing the Olympic spirit in this way. They overcame difficulties such as jet lag and internet speed to learn songs online and shoot in the snow and ice. When more than 60 audio tracks and 200G videos were made into MVs, the students were amazed! Lin Mo from the United States said: "Just like the slogan of the Winter Olympics' 'Together to the Future', the Olympic Games represent mankind's yearning for peace and unity, and completing this song with students from many countries also made me feel the strength of unity." Shen Wenxie, head of the "Cloud" Choir in China and composer of "Hope of Ice and Snow", said: "I created this song to express my good wishes for the Beijing Winter Olympics, and also contain my sincere wish for the friendship of all countries in the world to last forever. ”

"Laughter and applause harmonious dreams", when more than 100 international students from more than 50 countries sang this lyric together, the music crossed national borders, burst out of dreams and passions, highlighting the Olympic spirit that continued in 2000 - mutual understanding, friendship, unity and fair competition, and also continued to write the Beijing Winter Olympics movement of "peace, friendship and progress". As the lyrics write "Friendship Connects Our Hometown", international students from all over the world gathered in China to form a "cloud" chorus that blessed the Winter Olympics, harvested valuable friendship, and felt the power of unity and cooperation.

The Study Abroad China "Cloud" Choir is composed of international students from the "My Beautiful Encounter with China" essay contest for international students in China. This group of students with different nationalities and different cultural backgrounds met and knew each other because they studied in China and participated in the essay contest, and the same interests and common study abroad experience made them spontaneously organize and sing in the clouds to convey the Chinese voice and their Chinese story to the world. Since its establishment, the choir has sung and produced songs such as "Let the World Be Full of Love", "Don't Forget Your Initial Heart", and "Hope of Ice and Snow".

The "My Beautiful Encounter with China" Essay Contest for International Students in China is sponsored by the International Department of the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Study Abroad Service Center, and has been held for five sessions so far. In the past five years, the competition has received positive responses from Chinese universities, international students and graduates studying in China, and a large number of excellent works have emerged. According to statistics, in the past five years, there have been nearly 500 sub-colleges and universities, education department groups of embassies and consulates abroad, alumni organizations and individual submissions in China, a total of more than 3,000 articles, the authors of articles from more than 100 countries and regions, both the post-90s and post-95s young students who are studying in China, as well as the students who came to China in the early 1980s and 1990s.
