WRC's former overlord, can lego bricks regain their glory?

When it comes to the "king of rally" in the 21st century, most fans will certainly nominate Citroën Xena in the 2004-2006 WRC Triple Drivers Championship, or the C4 in the 2008-2010 Drivers + Teams Double Championship.

But more than 20 years ago, the accolade belonged to another Italian manufacturer that is hard to find today; it won the constructors' championship in the old A group of the WRC in 1987-1992 for six consecutive years, but eventually disappeared almost completely due to frustration off the field. That's the protagonist of our LEGO IDEA player's creativity today: the Lancia Delta Integrale 16V rally car designed by Lumik.

Based on Lancia's most classic production model of the 1980s, the Delta, the Lancia Delta Integrale 16V car, it has been upgraded twice on top of the Lancia Delta HF 4WD car that debuted in Group A, with a 2.0L turbocharged engine that broke the 200Ps mark, and also featured new technologies such as full-time four-wheel drive, making it the brightest star in rally around the 1990s.

However, at that time, the Blue Flag Asia was proud of the game, but the off-site was busy: because the early batch of the Lancia's main force in the 70s, the beta, almost simultaneously appeared rusted and collapsed in the first and mid-80s, which was undoubtedly a fatal crisis for the car company that flaunted excellent quality. Although the later batches of the beta series no longer rusted, Lancia, which was hit by such a situation, had to withdraw from the lucrative Anglo-American market and eventually almost disappeared in mainstream countries. The honor that Delta regained at this time may only be the unwilling back of this former luxury brand.

Incidentally, the Delta family also has another delta S4 monster with zero hundred acceleration of nearly 2s and a power output of more than 500 Ps, but how it ended the WRC's almost crazy old Group B event with a tragedy is another story...

Unlike most IDEAS players who draw first and then practice, @Lumik has assembled a brick car before releasing this Delta, so there will not be many visible building difficulties and software errors in pure drawing design, at least in this regard, compared to many IDEAS ideas.

The author's restoration of the appearance of the Delta Integrale 16V race car is quite in place, including the large-area heat dissipation port of the front, the four-wheel red rear fender, and the details have not fallen, and the overall shape is basically benchmarked against the classic models such as 10276/10295 of the Creative Master series.

However, to the surprise of many people, the chassis diagram issued by the author when it exceeded 1,000 likes proved that this is actually a fake technology group vehicle, and the chassis structure can see the shadow of many technology group supercars, and even made a rear-drive/four-wheel drive toggle switch. Being able to combine the high playability of the vehicles in the technology group with the excellent appearance reduction of traditional particles is so integrated, people have to sincerely admire the author's superb craftsmanship...

After painting the exclusive livery of a rally car, the appearance of this Delta is undoubtedly to the next level.

Inside the car, you can see the simple interior and interior details such as racing seats, throttle/brake/clutch pedals, and of course, Lancia's paper paste anti-roll rack (laughs).

As of the time of this writing, this project has received a total of 8,493 likes on the LEGO IDEAS official website, and the date of the collection of likes is still 227 days, considering Lancia's sentiment bonus, coupled with its own excellent quality, it should be said that it is only a matter of time before it breaks through the Wanzan mark and enters the FINAL REVIEW link of Lego.

Perhaps the only downside is that LEGO has not previously had such a highly integrated product that integrates the technology group chassis with the particle body, and there will be a lot of ambiguity in the product positioning; if it is to be put into mass production, I don't know whether it will be classified into the technology group or IDEAS?
