Meet the Covenant of Ice and Snow and run to a better future

On the morning of February 2, Beijing Olympic Forest Park became a sea of joy. The launching ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic Torch Relay was held at 9:00 a.m., followed by a three-day torch relay in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou from February 2 to 4.

The theme of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Torch Relay is "Greeting the Promise of Ice and Snow towards a Better Future". On February 4, the torches handed over by about 1,200 torchbearers will ignite the main torch tower of the National Stadium for an exciting Winter Olympic moment.

Orson Park: Torchbearers from all walks of life gather

In the Olympic Forest Park, which symbolizes the "central axis charm", the torchbearers stride with their heads held high and passionate, and walk along the fitness trail in turn, showing their own style in a healthy, joyful and energetic atmosphere.

According to the arrangement, 132 torchbearers participated in the relay at the Beijing Olympic Forest Park point, with a total distance of 10.6 kilometers. Most of these torchbearers come from all walks of life, and most of them have made outstanding achievements or made outstanding contributions in the system and in this field, including sports athletes, astronauts, scientists, builders of Winter Olympic venues, foreign ambassadors to China, etc.

Just after 8:00 a.m., many spectators came to the torch relay to wait, waiting to enjoy the "flying" torch and torchbearer. At 9:13, the Winter Olympics fire entered. Flames burned and the audience applauded. The first torchbearer was Luo Zhihuan, a former speed skater at the Heilongjiang Provincial Ice Sports Center. In the music of "Together to the Future", the entire audience stood up, Luo Zhihuan took the torch, and the torch relay officially opened.

Torches were passed one after another, and everywhere they went, the audience waved five-star red flags and small flags printed with the emblem of the Beijing Winter Olympics, cheering for the torchbearers and cheering for the Beijing Winter Olympics. At the torch relay site, the people who love sports and fitness in Chaoyang District performed street dance, aerobics, martial arts and other performances.

Winter Olympic Park: "Water and fire" magical landscape staged

Subsequently, the torch relay in Beijing Winter Olympic Park and Shougang Park was themed "Ice and Snow Show Belt", showing the achievements of 300 million people participating in ice and snow sports, reflecting the unique charm of "City of Two Olympics".

In Beijing's Winter Olympic Park, torchbearers run happily from river banks and lakes. Wang Meng, China's most gold medalist in the Winter Olympics and coach of the Heilongjiang Provincial Ice Training Center, served as the first sticker, Shan Zhaojian, former secretary general of the Chinese Ski Association, and Liu Qiuhong, the world champion of short track speed skating and who won the gold medal in the 3000-meter relay event of the World Championships five times, and many other winter sports representatives served as torchbearers.

The most interesting thing is the torch relay that is completed underwater. This link is jointly completed by amphibious robots and underwater variable structure robots, including three parts: robot ice surface sliding into the water, underwater torch handover fire, and robot water outflow. In the process of transmission, it can not only reflect the magical scene of the flame in the water "water and fire", but also show the green environmental protection concept advocated by the designer.

The Beijing Winter Olympic Park Torch Relay takes more than 6 hours, making it the longest. At the torch relay site of the Winter Olympic Park, about 360 square meters of real ice rink was built according to the terrain of the hillside, and the local people danced the "Golden Lion Stepping on the Snow Chinese Dragon" in the cheerful and mighty gongs and drums, and the ice and snow lovers danced, and the ice pair skating and queue skating performances won a round of applause.

Shougang Park: Steel remains as a torch relay background

Shougang Park is home to the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee and the Shougang Ski Jumping Stadium. Zhang Li, chief designer of the ski jump and dean of the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, who served as the torchbearer here, said that the design of the "big jump" was inspired by the fit between the jump platform and the image of Dunhuang's "feitian" streamer, hoping to convey the Chinese romance with the beautiful and smooth shape of the building. Liu Boqiang, a former Shougang worker and icemaker at Beijing Shougang Park Sports Center Operation Management Co., Ltd., also participated in the torch relay here.

In Shougang Park, the torch relay route starts from the starting point of the East Gate Square of the Shougang Park Factory, passes about 3 kilometers in the factory area, and passes through the iconic landscapes such as the Shougang Canteen and the Coke Oven to the end of the Three Blast Furnace Celebration Square. It is understood that the 44th to 58th sticks of the torch relay in Shougang Park pass through plots D, C and B of Liugonghui in Shougang Park, and the landscape lighting of Liugonghui along the way lights up the torchbearer's travel route.

During the torch relay in Beijing Winter Olympic Park and Shougang Park, more than 500 volunteers served as point staff, audience organization, media reception and other work. They come from the Beijing West Development Alliance of Colleges and Universities, the Shijingshan District Social Volunteer Service Team, the Youth Federation, the Youth League Working Committee of various streets, etc., and the average age of these volunteers is 24 years old, most of whom are college students.
