Wukesong Ice Takes Into Account Environmental Protection and Competition A number of ice hockey teams gave praise after training

BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Wukesong Sports Center is one of the ice hockey venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics, and in recent days, a number of teams have made positive comments on the two ice surfaces of training venues and competition venues after going on ice. Among them, the training hall adopts a new ice-making technology, which can reduce carbon emissions during the Winter Olympics, which can be described as taking into account environmental protection and competition.

In order to host the ice hockey competition of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, Wukesong Sports Center has transformed the original venue, comprehensively improved the water treatment system, installed a new ice-making system, and configured the world's top ice pouring equipment, which can complete the "ice basket conversion" within 6 hours. In addition, the new five pine ice centers were built to serve as training halls during the Winter Olympics.

During the Winter Olympic Games, Wukesong Sports Center has a total of 14 ice workers, and on January 6 this year, it entered the closed loop and began ice making work. During the ice making time of more than a week, meticulous monitoring and regulation of temperature, water volume, speed and time are carried out every day.

For example, the work of drawing lines, drawing lines means that the ice staff, with the assistance of the necessary tools, accurately marks the ice ball marks such as the scramble point, the goal area, and the restriction line on the ice surface with different colors of paint.

From adjusting the ice system to get the best ice surface temperature for painting, to proportional blending for optimal color results, to falling lines accurate to millimeters, to pulling wires, rechecking, marking, painting, and sealing water, each step is a challenge to the team's professionalism and degree of collaboration.

Over the past few days, two pieces of ice at the Wukesong Sports Center have been highly recognized by multiple training teams.

The newly built Wukesong Ice Center is the Beijing Winter Olympics Ice Hockey Training Hall, which uses carbon dioxide transcritical direct cold ice making technology, that is, gaseous carbon dioxide becomes a supercritical carbon dioxide fluid by heating and pressing, and then cools down and reduces pressure, so that it reaches -20 °C to -15 °C, and the liquid carbon dioxide phase change evaporates and absorbs heat, completing the process of refrigeration and ice making.

Zeng Sheng, deputy manager of the facilities of the venue operation team of Wukesong Sports Center, introduced that 7 of the 15 ice rinks in the Beijing Winter Olympics use carbon dioxide transcritical direct cold ice making technology, which is also the first time that this technology has been applied in the Winter Olympics.

He said that the application of this technology will reduce the overall carbon emissions of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Seven ice rinks use carbon dioxide to make ice, which is equivalent to reducing the annual carbon dioxide emissions of nearly 3,900 cars, or equivalent to the carbon reduction achieved by planting more than 1.2 million trees.

In addition, the Wukesong Ice Center itself is also the world's largest ultra-low energy sports building. According to the current regulations of Beijing Municipality, the energy saving rate of ultra-low energy consumption public buildings needs to be reduced by 60% compared with ordinary public buildings.

Previously, domestic ultra-low energy consumption practices were mostly used in concrete structures, while wukesong ice center used more than 10,000 square meters of glass curtain wall. The center adopts a room-in-room design, and due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside, the glass curtain wall between the ice rink and other areas is essential for thermal insulation with ultra-low energy requirements.

The three-glass two-chamber argon-filled glass is used in a large area in the center of the five pine ice, and according to calculations, the heat transfer coefficient of the glass curtain wall is as low as one-third of that of conventional glass.

Wukesong Ice Sports Center has also done three air tightness tests, and the air tightness standard is an important indicator of its ultra-low energy consumption building, and it is truly "energy is not transmitted".
