There was once a sage of very good character called Gao Chai, who was confucius's apprentice, and at first he was regarded as a fool by Confucius, but later fled to Chen Guo and became an official, and as a result, he lived for 128 years and was praised by posterity for more than 2,000 years.
Gao Chai, also known as Zi Lamb, male, born in 393 BC, was less than 5 feet tall when he grew up, was born noble, and was originally the 18th grandson of Qi Wengong, the king of the State of Qi in the Spring and Autumn Period. According to common sense, the descendants of the monarch are usually princes or noble princes with elegant temperament and handsome appearance, but this noble prince of the State of Qi, Gao Chai, is more sad, because he not only has some influence on the appearance of the city, but also has a serious short height: less than 5 feet tall.
Due to the chaotic unit of measurement in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the unit of measurement here is 1 foot = 23.1 cm of the Qin State. According to the calculation of 1 foot for 23.1 cm, 5 feet is 115.5 cm, so the height of Gao Chai who is less than 5 feet is only 1 meter 15. He was not good-looking, and he was less than 1 meter 15 tall, so the appearance of Gao Chai, the prince of Qi Guo, was seriously substandard.
Confucius was like a saint in the eyes of everyone, and the saint did not seem to make such a mistake as judging people by their appearance. However, the Great Sage of Kong sometimes judged people by their appearance. Just when Gao Chai had just worshipped Confucius as a teacher, Confucius saw that his newly adopted disciple was not only ugly but also less than 1 meter 15 tall, and he muttered in his heart: "How can this person look like a fool?" It is recorded in the "Records of History": "Confucius thought that (Gao Chai) was stupid. To put it bluntly, Confucius did not think that Gao Chai would have any outstanding performance at first, but only regarded him as a fool and a fool. However, Gao Chai's appearance deceived his teacher Confucius, who was actually a very intelligent and generous good person and good student.
Under Confucius, Gao Chai not only learned a lot of rich knowledge, but also learned a lot of principles of being a man, which laid a solid foundation for him to become an official in the future. Gao Chai is not only sensitive and studious, but also a very generous, just, upright, and very sympathetic person, so such a person must be an upright, selfless, and beloved parent official.
At first, Gao Chai's disciple Lu recommended Gao Chai to Lu Guo to be a minor official named "Fei Yizai". "Fei Yi Zai" is the local parent official of Fei Yi , the county order. According to the historical records of the Tongdian Volume 33 "Prefecture And County Order", the highest administrative officer of the county was called "Zai" in the State of Lu and Wei, "Yin" or "Gong" in the State of Chu, and "Dafu" in the State of Jin.
When Zilu recommended Gao Chai to go to Luguo to do the county order, Confucius was still very unfavorable to this apprentice, and even said: "(Gao Chai) is not a pit to harm other people's children when he is a county order?" "Confucius was a teacher and a very strict man. He was able to publicly "officially declare" that he was not optimistic about his apprentice, which showed how unkind he usually was to Gao Chai, but Gao Chai beat his teacher Confucius in the face with practical actions.
During his tenure at Fei Yizai, Gao Chai was just and honest, loved the people like a son, and saw everything clearly, and governed the whole of FeiYi smoothly, and the people lived and worked in peace and contentment. Since then, Gao Chai has successively served as lu guo zai and Wu cheng zai, and still maintains a benevolent heart, adheres to benevolent government, enforces justice, and is deeply loved by the local people. Because Gao Chai achieved these good political achievements, his teacher Confucius no longer looked down on this student, and even praised him.
In 480 BC, there was a coup d'état in Weiguo, and Gao Chai, who was then a weiguoshishi, was unfortunately involved in the whirlpool of this rebellion, fortunately, his prejudgment ability was very good, he fled Weiguo at the first time, and finally survived; before Gao Chai left, he also advised his brother and disciple Lu not to return to the palace, and as a result, Zhongyong Zilu returned to the palace to quell the rebellion for the sake of the monarch and the reputation of Confucius, and finally died heroically. Facts have proved that Gao Chai is not only a person of integrity, but also has a relatively strong ability to predict things, which are the hard conditions that are conducive to him becoming an official.
Gao Chai fled to Yangxialiang Township in the Chen State, which is now Gaoxian Township in Taikang County, where he settled. Because Gao Chai was born into a famous family, was also an apprentice of Confucius, and had a good reputation as an official, he was very popular and respected by the locals in Yangxia LiangXiang. According to records, Gao Chai was born in 521 BC and died of illness until 393 BC, living for 128 years.
At the same time, the locals have always respected him and passed it on from generation to generation, and continue to this day, and for more than 2,000 years, the locals still have great respect for this Confucius. Although Gao Chai is less than 1.15 meters tall and does not look good on the outside, he has won the respect of his teacher Confucius and the world with his efforts and character, and has even been praised by posterity for more than 2,000 years.
