Sky Sports: West Ham tried to sign Zapata on closing day, but ultimately failed

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United tried to sign Atalanta striker Zapata on the transfer deadline, but ultimately failed.

It is reported that West Ham United has submitted a list of deals to the Premier League, but has not been able to sign Zapata. West Ham's interest in Zapata dates back to 2013, when he also played for the Argentine École Edgisse.

Newcastle also wanted Zapata, but was unable to complete the deal.

Although West Ham United are interested in Manchester United's Jesse Lingard and Benfica's Nunez in the winter window, they have not brought in any new signings before the winter window closes. United decided to keep Jesse Lingard until the end of the season, while Benfica turned down the Hammers' offer for Núñez. According to Sky Sports Italy, West Ham United bid 45 million euros for Nunez, but it was lower than Benfica's estimate.
