ESPN: West Ham are close to signing Zapata before the transfer deadline, and Atalanta finally backs down

According to ESPN, before the deadline of the transfer window, West Ham United was close to signing Atalanta attacker Zapata, the two sides have reached an agreement and exchanged documents, West Ham has signed a final agreement with Zapata and sent it to Atalanta, but Atlanta repented at the last minute.

Considering that this potential transfer is close to closing the transfer window, Atalanta will have nowhere to look for a replacement, and eventually they abandon this deal, they do not want to lose Zapata, and West Ham United have no way to do so.

Zapata's current contract with Atlanta expires in 2023, and so far this season he has played 23 games for Atalanta in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists, but he has recently been plagued by an adductor injury and has been unable to play.
