【Spring Festival and New Year Customs】
The Spring Festival is known as the "first of a hundred festivals". In China's historical civilization, there are many folk customs to welcome the Spring Festival, and one of the biggest customs preserved so far is to write the Spring Festival and paste the Spring Festival. Every year, every year in the spring, on the afternoon of Chinese New Year's Eve, every household will paste a new spring league on both sides of the gate to express the beautiful expectations for the new year.
Chunlian, also known as "Chun Tie", "Door Pair", "Couplet", "Yang Lian", is a unique literary form in the mainland. It expresses good wishes in neat, dual, concise and exquisite words. It is a type of red festive element "Nian Hong" posted during the Lunar New Year. It means that the new year continues to receive the gifts of heaven, and the new spring festival looks forward to the spring always. In the Song Dynasty, the peach symbol was changed from a peach wood board to paper, called "spring sticker" and "spring union". This custom began to prevail in the Ming Dynasty, and by the Qing Dynasty, the ideological and artistic nature of the Spring League had greatly improved. At present, whether in the city or in the countryside, every household must pick a beautiful Spring Festival and paste it on the door, resign the old and welcome the new, and increase the festive atmosphere.
As the saying goes: "twenty-eight, paste window flowers", there are also folk songs in some places "twenty-nine, paste upside down unitary (meaning pasting spring union)" According to the different customs of various places, the time of pasting spring union is also slightly different, but overall it is more concentrated. The correct way to stick the couplet is to paste the upper link on the right, the lower link on the left, and the left and right to face the gate or pilaster. The reason why it is posted in this way is because in the past, it was written from right to left, so the couplet was also read from right to left. But now, with the change of people's writing habits, the Spring League sticker method has also changed: that is, to look at horizontal batches. For example, if the horizontal batch of "financial resources are widely advanced", it should be posted on the left side of the upper link and the right side of the lower link. If it is a horizontal batch such as "entering the Guangyuan cai", it should be posted on the right side of the upper link and the left side of the lower link.
Different from the time when there is a relative concentration of the Spring League, the time of picking the Spring League varies greatly from place to place. According to the different folk customs of various places, there are four customs: the whole year, the festival and the natural shedding and the burning of the Spring Festival. No matter which custom is taken, it represents the local people's beautiful expectations for the future life.
