Arsenal's two gossip targets sign new contracts, with Spurs leading the Juve winger battle

Following a scandal with Arsenal this month, Palmeiras' Danilo and Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo have both signed new contracts with their respective teams.

In early January, Brazilian media outlet R7 reported that Arsenal had offered Palmeiras midfielder Danilo £22m.

In the weeks that followed, further reports suggested that Danilo would renew his contract with Palmeiras until 2026, with both salaries and settlements increasing.

Later this month, Foot Mercato said Arsenal were preparing to bring in Gackpo of Eindhoven as a replacement for Aubameyang.

Within days, Eindhoven had confirmed a new long-term contract with Gakpo.

Similar tone, Arsenal have been linked in recent days to Aston Villa's Douglas-Lewis, with both Birmingham Live and The Evening Standard suggesting they could provide a quote before Monday's transfer deadline.

But John Percy reported that Villa was inclined to sign a new contract with Luis. He added that Villa rejected an offer this month (not from Arsenal) and Gerrard and the club spoke highly of Luis.

Such reports are not surprising. The agents of more than one or two players have thrown Arsenal's name to the media in order to push forward the transfer negotiations.

We're not sure if that applies to Luis, as there's no official confirmation as whether he signed a new contract. If he did, it wouldn't come as a surprise.

Arsenal made new contact with Juventus on Thursday on Kulusevsky's transfer, but Spurs led the race for players.

Di Marzio wrote on Thursday that Kulusevsky no longer appeared to be part of Juve's plans, although WHILE AC Milan was interested, the club was reluctant to lend to the Italian side.

Di Marzio said the easiest solution was for players to move to foreign leagues, with Arsenal in the lead.

Later in the day, Alfredo Pedulla added that Arsenal had made new contacts with Juve and that the transfer could take place if the latter accepted a loan contract with an opt-out clause.

But The Athletic reported another story that Spurs were also chasing Kulusevsky.

Players can play multiple positions, playing on both sides, the no. 10 position, and even sometimes used as a two-striker.

Given Arsenal's most pressing needs, these transfer rumours are a bit confusing. It looks unlikely that the Gunners will use him to break through or play as a center forward, and these positions are where they need to make up for it.

Maybe it's just out of love for the player, knowing that he can leave the team at the moment and doesn't want to miss such an opportunity. It's just a little strange that Arsenal already have Saka and Pepe in the long-term play position in Kulu.

Moving to Tottenham at the moment is more plausible, and perhaps this is another example of arsenal's name being used in negotiations.

Kulusewski's appearances at Juve have been uneven this season, with only five league starts and no champions league starts.

He is a regular substitute for the team, playing 972 minutes in all competitions, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists.
