For Volkswagen Kaidi, I believe that the older generation will be familiar with it, it is a product of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle, with multiple roles, its passenger version of the model has MPV attributes, the freight version of the model also takes into account the role of commercial vehicles, so in the European market Kaidi is also known as "generalist".
In addition, the car was introduced by FAW-Volkswagen in 2005, when it was the third generation of the previous model, with a price range of 125,800 to 147,600, but it was quickly discontinued due to poor market performance, and has not been introduced to the domestic market since then.
Recently, Volkswagen Kaidi launched the Origin model in the Spanish market, and the new car launched two models, starting at 34,970 euros (about 251,600 yuan). In terms of appearance, the front face of the new car adopts the latest design style of the Volkswagen family, which is very similar to the ID. series model under the pure electric platform, using a design similar to the closed front face, and a horizontal chrome grille connects the two side headlights to create a penetrating visual effect.
The side shape of the body is more square, more like a small truck, with the visual sense of Wuling Hongguang, but the overall proportion is still harmonious, with the five-frame wheel hub and side sliding door design, you can feel the modern atmosphere. The tail car shape is more unique, slender black background vertical LED taillight group plus simple and wide tail window and tailgate, has a strong visual impact.
In terms of size, the new Kaidi has a length, width and height of 4501/1855/1797mm and a wheelbase of 2755mm. Compared with the old model, the length, width and wheelbase of the new car have been improved. Although the body height has been reduced by 25mm, the height of the interior of the cabin has been increased.
In terms of interior, it also adopts Volkswagen's latest family design style, which is very similar to the Golf 8, equipped with a three-frame multi-functional steering wheel, a full LCD dashboard and a central control screen, in addition, it is also equipped with a delicate and compact electronic gear lever on the German version of the high-end model, and the sense of science and technology has been significantly improved. At the same time, in order to take into account the attributes of commercial vehicles, there is more storage space in the car, such as the open storage slot in the upper part of the center console.
In terms of power, the Spanish version is equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI four-cylinder diesel engine with a maximum power of 122 horsepower, a peak torque of 320 Nm, a transmission system matching a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 4-Motion four-wheel drive system. It is worth mentioning that the car can also be supplied with a 1.5T gasoline engine, a maximum power of 114 horsepower, and the drivetrain is matched with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
At present, Kaidi and the domestic SAIC Volkswagen Touran positioning is more similar, are compact MPV, but Tuan has not been replaced for many years, plus the price of 15.18-19.48 million yuan, as well as smaller body size, its sense of existence has been very low, last year's average monthly sales of less than 500 vehicles. Not only Tuan, but also Weiran sales positioned as medium and large MPV are also very general, which shows that domestic consumers are not interested in mass MPV. I don't know if Volkswagen will introduce Kaidi to reopen the market, only to look forward to it.
