Xie Jun: My chess coach Hu Ronghua

Who knows that the famous chess player Xie Jun (the 7th chess queen in the chess world: Xie Jun) once won the Chinese chess championship in the Beijing Children's Group when she was 10 years old, and she also found a respected Chinese chess master at that time, and she worshiped the teacher as an apprentice. Now share an article about Xie Jun learning chess after chess in 2003.

Xie Jun: My chess coach Hu Ronghua

From October 11 to 18, 2003, 8 members of the Chinese chess delegation were appointed by the General Administration of Sports of the People's Republic of China to participate in the cultural exchange activities signed by the Chinese and French governments. Although the visit was not an official competition, because it was part of the Year of Chinese Culture in France in 2003, the Chinese Chess Academy attached great importance to the composition of the delegation. The delegation was led by Pei Jiarong, secretary of the Party Committee of the China Chess Academy, and the players in the three disciplines of chess, Go and chess were selected to send representative players in China to participate.

The three chess pieces competed overseas on the same stage, which is the first time since the founding of the People's Republic of China. To ask me what was the biggest gain of my time in France besides participating in the friendship and friendship activities between the two peoples, that is, I found a respected Chinese chess coach.

It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to worship a famous teacher

This Chinese chess coach of mine is extremely well-known in China, but if I don't say it, everyone will not guess the honorific name of this tall man. Forget it, don't hang on to the appetite of readers, my new coach is Teacher Hu Ronghua.

Xie Jun: My chess coach Hu Ronghua

Friends will definitely say that Teacher Hu Ronghua did not play Chinese chess when they saw this, do you still have to go out of the house halfway to change your career? In fact, no matter which kind of chess, the principle of playing chess is the same. Often, when the chess skill reaches a certain level, the chess player's understanding of chess, his (her) ideological realm is the key to determining the outcome of the game, otherwise how can they say that kung fu is outside the chess?

Teacher Hu Ronghua in 1960 just 15 years old to the national championship throne, in 2000 after a gap of 40 years and won his 14th national championship, he set the record of the youngest champion, the longest champion and the most number of championships, so Mr. Hu Ronghua is definitely the most legendary chess player in China, and his brilliant chess career is a miracle in itself. When he swept through thousands of armies with brilliant achievements, his friends in the chess world called him "Commander Hu"; now he is still fighting in the front line of the game at the age of 58, so Teacher Hu has a title of "immortal bird". To be able to get the guidance of a master of this level is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for my generation of chess players.

Although since the beginning of learning chess, Mr. Hu Ronghua's name has been thunderous, but because the two chess competitions are rarely held together, there have not been many direct contacts with Mr. Hu himself in recent years. In my memory, apart from a few brief encounters at some large-scale events, the longest one was spent two days together in 1999 at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Top Ten Outstanding Chess Players.

He remembers me in the eighties

However, Mr. Hu Ronghua said that he had mentored me at the Beijing Chess Academy as early as the 1980s, and he still remembers what I looked like at that time. Hey, this all complains about my bad memory, I threw such a precious experience out of the clouds, in the eighties I was still an eleven- or twelve-year-old hairy girl, I didn't understand anything.

Because many chess players in the chess world are "born" of Chinese chess, I am not the only admirer of teacher Hu Ronghua in our team. I remember that when our chess team visited Europe a few years ago, I saw my "full-time" coach Ye Jiangchuan holding a chess book of Teacher Hu Ronghua all day long and meditating. I have never seen who Ye Jiangchuan admires, even in the face of the world chess king Kasparov's chess, he must also evaluate and analyze with an objective attitude. However, the chess score of Teacher Hu was different, and while looking at it, he chanted in his mouth: "Master, really a master, he simply understands everything in the chess." Seeing that my coach was so respectful of Mr. Hu Ronghua's chess score, I added a little admiration to "Commander Hu". For us young chess players, Mr. Hu Ronghua is simply a cross-era figure.

Cameos are fun

Although the delegation's visit to Paris lasted only a short week, the daily schedule was full during the French period, and the local newspapers fully reported on the event. Exhibition competitions, large and small, are held almost every day. Once, in order to seize the time to let local chess fans practice more, the Chaozhou Guild Hall, which was responsible for receiving the delegation, even placed the ring in a Chinese restaurant. The enthusiasm of overseas Chinese and the degree of obsession of chess fans and friends are really touching.

Maybe because local chess fans and friends are so eager to win a game with the masters on the board, they all care about winning or losing. Although these chess fans and friends also have an objective evaluation of their own strength, no matter what, the results of repeated defeats still make them feel strange and uncomfortable. Therefore, at the initiative of my chess coach Hu Ronghua, our delegation duly launched a "cameo performance" of chess players, which means that when we communicate with local chess fans and friends, we do not use our own professional projects, but play another kind of chess.

However, don't underestimate the chess skills of these masters in the "side business", Hu Ronghua's go is at least the level of a professional dan player, and The Chinese chess coached by Ye Jiangchuan has participated in national competitions. Only I, who once won the Beijing Chinese Chess Children's Championship when I was 10 years old, is not too strong, but I can also compete on the chessboard, which is in line with the "market demand" and is the most suitable for friendly work. So later, whether it was the public counselor of the Chinese Embassy in France or the director of the Chaozhou Association who received us, I would be "grandly launched" as a Chinese chess player. Although everyone's level is purely amateur, almost every game of chess ends in the process of the two sides making mistakes, but because the opponents are at the same level as each other, not only do the chess have a taste, but the 1-to-1 draw result also makes everyone happy.

Words and deeds have benefited a lot

Although the time in Paris is only one week, Coach Hu is also "serious coaching and strict requirements" for me as an apprentice, which makes me benefit a lot from Coach Hu's words. For example, teacher Hu Ronghua has repeatedly emphasized that chess players should always put themselves in the right position on the field, so as to maintain a normal mind and a clear mind. Talking about how chess players can maintain a first-class competitive state, Mr. Hu's views have inspired me even more. His experience is that when playing chess, he cannot blindly stay in the "hallucinations" of the heyday. A qualified chess player must not only objectively face the practical difficulties brought about by age, but also constantly challenge himself, maintain a high fighting spirit and desire to win. No matter at what stage, the chess player must put himself in a state of continuous learning openness, when you have the desire to constantly improve your technical level and the ability to improve, regardless of age, you will be a fighter on the board. Teacher Hu Ronghua also gave an example half-jokingly, saying that he was most afraid of going to some primary schools to participate in activities, because the children's childish voice called everyone old.

Whether it is the past contact with him or the days spent in Paris, whether happy or troubled, Teacher Hu Ronghua is always laughing and scolding, and it is difficult for outsiders to see the true feeling of his inner world from his face. As a battle-hardened chess player, although Mr. Hu Ronghua has experienced too many wins and losses, it is valuable that he can always maintain a peaceful attitude.

In 2002, when I was just taking up the leadership of the Beijing Chess Academy, I had to ask For Advice from Mr. Hu Ronghua, who had been the president of the Shanghai Chess Academy for many years, in terms of administrative management. From the behavior of a manager to how to improve the training quality and competition performance of athletes, from strengthening the professional ability of administrative personnel to mobilizing the enthusiasm of all the people in the unit, Mr. Hu introduced a lot of valuable experience to me.

The protagonist of the lively atmosphere

Since the main task of this trip to Paris is to carry out friendly work, our Chinese delegation also has more social activities. Since I visited the teacher, every day when I ate, I firmly occupied the position on the left side of Coach Hu, and Teacher Hua Yigang sat on the right side of Teacher Hu Ronghua with a "master brother" one by one. At each dinner table, the two of them are definitely the protagonists of the active atmosphere, as long as the two people open their mouths, the dinner table becomes lively, a pair of old naughty children who are alive and free. Each time they found a topic and played it, if they recorded their witticisms one after another, they could compile a "Parisian Quotation".

Teacher Hua Yigang has the reputation of "the king of stories" in the Go world, so that he can tell things like listening to commentaries, plus from time to time Teacher Hu knocks on the side drum, and the two of them can always make everyone laugh when they sing and laugh. Once everyone was happy, and the two teachers had a few more drinks, so Mr. Hua had to perform a one-legged squat show to prove that his alcoholism was far more than that. At that time, no one believed Teacher Hua's words, not to mention that this was a "drunken" word under the condition of a few bottles of wine, just because Teacher Hua was more than 50 years old, it was difficult not to drink and want to complete such a difficult action as squatting on one leg. But what is unbelievable is that after Teacher Hua did a warm-up exercise in the "fake model" style, he actually squatted down with only one leg, and everyone was amazed.

Little regret

If there is any dissatisfaction with my coach, it is that Teacher Hu Ronghua said that because I am an art teacher, I can only be counted as his named disciple, and cannot be included in the ranks of official apprentices. Hey, in this way I don't have the blessing of being a closed disciple of Teacher Hu. If you can get the words and deeds of Teacher Hu Ronghua, you don't care too much about what kind of name you have.
