In recent years, we have seen many outstanding young Serbian players, especially from Red Star Belgrade, flocking to larger European clubs. City are particularly interested in this market, with Philippe Stefanovic, Slobodan Teddage and Luka Ilyich. The most famous Serbian youngster in Europe at the moment is Fiorentina's Vlahović, who is likely to make the most important move of his career in the next six months, joining a club in Europe. Another player who will emerge from the famous Red Star youth team is Marco Ražetic, the 18-year-old centre-forward hailed as the new generation of Vlahovic.
Ražetic turned 18 on Jan. 22, so it's hard to say how good a player he is now, or how good he can be. But these signs certainly portend hope. Ražetic is 192cm tall, so it's clear what kind of player he is. He's first and foremost a high school striker who can be a pivot, but overemphasizing the label would ignore his other abilities because his aggressiveness, oppressive ability and speed are also a threat. It was these abilities, as well as his nationality, that led to comparisons with Vlahovich.
He made his debut for Red Star at the age of 16 and has therefore received widespread attention in Serbia. Former Serbian player Vlado Avramov, who believes Ražetic can emulate Vlahović's path of growth, told the Italian media: "Absolutely right. Toussaint was great. However, Marko can follow in his footsteps. Currently an important member of the Red Star offensive line, his body is still growing, and his experience and ability will also improve. At just 18 years old, he was the star of the team. "AC Milan have already won a signing for Ražetic and will soon announce his arrival.
