Since 2010, the United Nations Postal Administration has issued zodiac stamps with the theme of "Chinese New Year". After the first round of Zodiac stamps was issued, on 21 January 2022, the Postal Administration began the second round of Chinese New Year stamps. This year's "Year of the Tiger in the Chinese Lunar Calendar" commemorative stamp is the first set of the second round of zodiac stamps, the stamp plate contains 10 stamps with a face value of US$1.3, the main stamp is a tiger picture, and the secondary stamp is a United Nations emblem, created by Chinese artist Pan Hu.

Talking about the creation of the commemorative stamp of the Year of the Tiger, Pan Hu said that the form is Chinese and the content is borderless. "The tiger and the roses behind it are expressed in the traditional Chinese form of heavy color and white painting. The theme was inspired by Sassoon's masterpieces. Pan Hu said that the famous anti-war poet Sasson has a saying: There is a tiger in the heart, and the roses are sniffed. The brave and fearless tiger can sometimes show a gentle and warm or even delicate side, and will also stop to enjoy beautiful things and good life. In our creations, we convey the common desire of the people of the world to love life and yearn for peace, and express them in the form of Chinese paintings to welcome and celebrate the arrival of the Lunar Year of the Tiger.

Sergio Baradat, head of global design and communications at the United Nations Postal Administration, fully affirmed the artistic design of the Year of the Tiger stamp, "Mr. Pan's design, while maintaining the classic Chinese design elements, also shows a strong sense of modernity and futurism. Baradat said the tiger represents strength, might and prosperity in the Chinese zodiac. It is hoped that the positive message conveyed by this stamp will inspire people to get out of the shadow of the epidemic on the world at the time of the New Year, and to move forward with hope and courage.

Balladat said that the Chinese Lunar New Year commemorative stamps issued by the United Nations Postal Administration in the past decade or so have been loved by stamp collectors, and he is deeply pleased by this, and on the occasion of the Arrival of the Year of the Tiger, he sends good wishes to Chinese people around the world.
