"We have nothing, we don't bow our heads easily, we have nothing, we don't have the thought of letting go..." This is an episode of the movie, and whenever I think of the two brothers and sisters in the movie, I can't help but hear this song in my ears.
If you have seen this film, you will know that this is the episode in "Run, Child", a very warm and natural, but also touching movie.
Today I want to introduce you to this film "Run, Child" directed by Singaporean director Leung Chi-keung; it is the first Singaporean film to win the International Film Awards, which has won a total of 6 international awards including the Best Director of the 2003 Iran International Children's Film Festival, and is also the first Singapore film in 40 years to be shortlisted for the Golden Horse Awards, of which the actress Zheng Zhiyun also won the Golden Horse Award for Best New Actor.

The story is about a pair of brothers and sisters living in a very poor family, once when the brother Ah Kun went to the grocery store to collect rice, he accidentally lost his sister Xiaofang's shoes, and the family could no longer afford the money for a pair of shoes, and the helpless brother Ah Kun could only exchange his shoes with his sister to wear to school. Every morning, Ah Kun and his sister desperately ran in the agreed place to change shoes to go to school, because the shoes did not fit, resulting in the sister being ridiculed by her classmates at school and criticized by the teacher; Ah Kun did everything possible for his sister's shoes, and wrote the homework of the twelve subjects for Fuershiro Mingshun, but in the end, the shoes were asked back; later learned that the third place in the cross-country competition, rewarding a pair of shoes, but Ah Kun missed the time to register, and then went to the teacher to let him sign up for the cross-country race, and finally the teacher was moved. Agreed to have him sign up.
At this point in the film, are you also touched by Ah Kun's persistent spirit? The phrase "poor children have long been home" is vividly reflected in the play, for a pair of shoes that are very ordinary for others, but are very precious for them, desperately want to get, but they can never get that kind of heartache, and only those who have experienced it will understand.
The climax of the film is that the brother is stuck in the swamp with his shoes trapped in the swamp during the cross-country race, running barefoot in mud and rubble; then the camera turns, and the sister runs to find the midwife because her mother is about to give birth, and on the way, her slippers are broken, and she can only walk barefoot on a path full of gravel and broken glass, and finally the camera stays on the blood-stained glass. Not only did I think, if it were myself, would I have the courage to walk barefoot on such a road?
The camera returns to Ah Kun, when he is about to reach the end, he slipped under his feet and accidentally won the first place, which was a happy thing, Ah Kun's face did not have the joy of first place, but full of self-blame, because he did not get the third place, indicating that he would lose his shoes. However, Ming Shun, who won the third place, thought that he had deliberately come to grab Ming Shun's rank, and angrily threw the rewarded shoes into the lake, and then the two brothers and sisters silently watched the shoes drift farther and farther, leaving only a full of reluctance in their eyes.
Later, Ming Shun wanted to study abroad, and before leaving, he gave Ah Kun a pair of shoes, and here, the whole drama ended.
The most impressive thing in the film is that after getting a pair of shoes, Ah Kun said this sentence: "When there are no shoes we know where the problem is, and now when we have shoes, do we know where the problem is?" This sentence is worth pondering.
