In the past, the soundtrack of the Lupin series was led by master figures such as Takeshi Yamashita and Yuji Ohno, forming a unique "Lupin Jazz" style. Faced with a national-level work like Lupin III, Mr. Kikuchi Seikong, who served as the soundtrack, was also under pressure and worried about whether he could take over the work of the masters. Mr. Kikuchi, recommended by Mr. Shinichiro Watanabe, naturally has no doubt about his strength.
Opening "No Two Sons" for the first time, the voice of a mature woman reading poetry rang in my ears, interspersed with the repeated pulling of the cello, plus the beautiful explicit picture like an illustration... It wasn't until the title of the work appeared that I realized it was an OP animation. Just from the OP, you can feel the charm of the work. The superintendent was shocked when he first heard Mr. Kikuchi's OP song, abandoned the original concept of op pictures, and gained many new ideas from the music. However, the supervisor decided that the OP song was not suitable for singing, and Mr. Watanabe proposed to use the form of speech directly. Mr. Kikuchi remembered that there was a lot of narration in Luke Godard's films, so he also wanted to use the narration in the OP. In addition, as the narrator, Ms. Kazuko Hashimoto, her mature voice also brings a unique atmosphere to the OP.
In addition to the OP, the soundtrack in the work also has a unique flavor. The stage of this story is set in 1960-1970, so it is also necessary to reflect the characteristics of the times in music. Mr. Kikuchi mentioned that real instruments can restore the sense of the times more than computer-synthesized music. The special style shown in "Nobiko" is due to the credit of music, and the superintendent even praised that without Mr. Kikuchi's music, "Fujiko" would be an incomplete work. <h4>A woman named Saday Yamamoto</h4>
The reason why the works can achieve such a high quality is ultimately inseparable from the supervision of All Aspects of Yamamoto Sadayo. At the beginning of the animation project, Mr. YuZune, who was the animator of "Fujiko", wanted to make a Lupin with a film texture, and after seeing "Michiko and Hakin", he sent an invitation to Sabhiro Yamamoto. Because "No Two Sons" is a brand new "Lupin III", you can ignore the previous series settings. Without any constraints, Yamamoto chose his favorite character, Mine Fujiko, as the protagonist of the work. The supervisor confessed that when he watched Lupin III as a child, he only cared about the sexy and enchanting pictures of the second son. Although after taking over the project, the supervisor was able to make a work that could be seen from beginning to end, but the production process was still full of hardships.
At the beginning of production, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred (311 Earthquake in the waters off honshu Island, Japan). The unfortunate death of his family in the earthquake made it impossible for Yamamoto to continue the storyboarding work, and he was also seriously traumatized. But after all, it is his own work, and the supervisor can only pick up the pen and continue to draw the storyboard. In the first episode, when Lupin steals the treasure, the script uses the method of escaping from the waves. Earthquakes are known to cause tsunamis, so it was never possible to depict waves at the time, but it was not easy to consider other bridge sections. Mr. Yamamoto himself was very fond of figure skating, so in order to adjust his mood, he began to think about figure skating, and even had related picture ideas in his mind. Therefore, the costume design of the money-shaped police officer and Ban Oscar was also inspired by the American figure skater Johnny Weir. Even if the production was not smooth, Yamamoto supervisor finally presented "No Two Sons" to every audience in a beautiful manner.
