By 2026, Open RAN is expected to account for around 15% of the overall RAN market

According to a recent report from market research firm Dell'Oro Group, preliminary findings suggest that Open RAN overall revenue, including O-RAN and Open RAN radio and baseband, has seen surprising growth in both 2020 and 2021, supporting the argument that Open RAN will continue to exist and that the architecture will play an important role before 6G.

Stefan Pongratz, vice president and analyst at Dell'Oro Group, said: "The fact that Open RAN development has come a long way in just a few years has surprised both proponents and skeptics of the technology. While challenging comparisons can have some impact on the market in the short term, these differences between emerging and traditional carriers are unlikely to leave a lasting mark on the long-term outlook. ”
