The 9th China Beijing International Art Biennale (referred to as the 9th Beijing Biennale) with the theme of "Light of Life", co-sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Beijing Municipal People's Government and the China Artists Association, recently opened at the National Art Museum of China.
It is reported that the Ninth Beijing Biennale exhibited in 117 countries and regions, a total of 573 participating artists, a total of 707 exhibited works, 487 foreign (including special exhibition) works, 220 Works from China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), a small number of international works that cannot be shipped due to the epidemic and other reasons, through the electronic picture screen display of the art museum, even so, it is still the largest offline international exhibition.
Tao Qin, deputy secretary of the party group of the China Artists Association and a first-level inspector, introduced that due to the global ravages of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the call for papers for this Beijing Biennale should be the most difficult in history, but the number of countries submitted to this biennale reached 124, the highest in the past, which is not easy.
Some embassies in China took the initiative to contact the first time they saw the call for papers, and invited them to interview and participate in the exhibition; some countries' embassies in China took the initiative to request a grace deadline because they saw the call for papers late, hoping to try their best to launch submissions in a limited time; some foreign artists themselves and their families were unfortunately infected with the new crown, but they began to create at the first time after recovery, and still insisted on submitting articles.
"Under the unfavorable conditions of the new crown epidemic raging around the world, this biennale has reached 124 countries, which proves that the exhibition has formed its own unique cultural brand and has been widely respected, recognized and praised by artists around the world." Tao Qin introduced that since its inception in 2003, the Beijing Biennale has been regarded as the "most international biennale": 150 countries have been contacted, 130 countries have participated in the submission, and nearly 5,000 artists from various countries have participated.
The theme of the 9th Beijing Biennale exhibition , "The Light of Life", covers the Olympic spirit and the spirit of fighting the epidemic, and the two spirits are highly compatible, reflecting the value, dignity, energy and brilliance of human life.
The light of life here refers to both the light of sports and the light of the visual arts. Sport is the strong light of life, art is the bright color of life, the holy flame of the Olympic Games radiates the strong flame of life, and the inspiration of art shines with the bright brilliance of life.
The theme of the 3rd Beijing Biennale, which matched the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, was "Color and Olympics", and the theme of the 9th Beijing Biennale, "Light of Life", continued the artistic diversification orientation of "Color and Olympics", focusing on the anti-epidemic spirit and the Olympic spirit, hoping that the value of human life would attract much attention and the glory of human life would be more brilliant.
It is understood that the works exhibited in the ninth session are not only closely related to the unified theme, but also do not stick to specific themes, both realistic portrayal of realistic shapes and surreal romantic imagination. For example, French female artist Andrea's acrylic painting "Towards the Light" links anti-epidemic images with Olympic images, showing that human beings have experienced the dark period of the new crown epidemic and gradually moved towards a bright and beautiful future of life. The most representative of Chinese works are wang Xuexian, Li Hongjun and Zhang Xiang, who each undertake three large-scale theme creations, namely the oil painting "Sports Power" with the theme of "Sports Power" as the theme of "Sports Power", the Chinese painting "Light of Life" with the theme of "Winter Olympics" and "Together to the Future - Welcome to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics". In addition to the theme exhibition, the 9th Beijing Biennale also has five special exhibitions: "Selected Special Exhibition of Sports Theme Collections of Previous Beijing Biennales", "Special Exhibition of George Morandi Prints", "Special Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Twelve European Countries", "Tony Kragett Exhibition" and "Special Exhibition of Contemporary Art of International Women Artists".
