The donation ceremony of the statue of General Zhao Xiguang was held in Hengshan Village
Eyes sparkling, looking straight ahead, eyebrows, heroic, but wonderful... As the bust of General Zhao Xiguang was placed in the courtyard of the former residence, it was like hearing its sound and seeing its people, and the entire former residence was suddenly more agile and vivid.
On January 20, 2022, Hengshan Village, Wayao Town, was presented with a bust of General Zhao Xiguang donated by the Baoshan Young Entrepreneurs Association.
The statue was carved by Guo Yunbo, a young artist from Longling County. He said that the village of Hengshan in Wayao Town is a remote alpine mountainous area, but it has come out of a great general. General Zhao Xiguang made great contributions to the founding of New China and the social development of his life, and was listed in the Yingjie Hall of the Baoshan Historical Hall of Fame. This is the pride of the people of Baoshan. Although General Zhao has been gone from the human world for many years, his great achievements will shine with the sun and the moon, and his spirit will coexist with the mountains and rivers.
As a junior artist, he specially presented a statue of the general to Hengshan Village, carried forward the spirit of the general with practical actions, and kept pace with the times, bravely competed for the lead, worked diligently, immersed in hard work in his own career, and made his due contribution to the development of Baoshan.
According to reports, Hengshan Village in Wayao Town is the birthplace of General Zhao Xiguang. The existing former residence is the residence of his father, Zhao Duanxiang. It has survived as the office of the Yokoyama Village Committee. The town of Wayao greatly cherishes this precious cultural business card. In 2008, the Hengshan Village Committee was newly built to vacate the former residence. In 2018, we actively raised funds to repair the former residence. In 2019, with the care and help of various departments, the exhibition was finally set up. In 2021, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party, Zhao Xiguang's former residence opened its doors to welcome guests to present gifts to the party. In the course of studying and educating on party history, Wayao Town, in accordance with local conditions and with Zhao Xiguang's former residence as the center, used the creation of red poems "Zhao Xiguang's Former Residence" and "Daoren Mountain" to shoot a special film on the family style of "Documentary of General Zhao Xiguang's Family Style," watched the exhibition of General Zhao Xiguang's life deeds, and prepared for the construction of a patriotic red book house to tell Zhao Xiguang's story well, inherit red genes, and deepen the study and education of party history. In addition, Wayao Town takes "red culture + planting under the forest" as the starting point to build Hengshan into a boutique demonstration village.
"Collecting more objects to enrich the content of the former residence and creating more carriers to tell the story of the good general is what Wayao Town has always wanted." Li Jun, mayor of Wayao Town, said. He hoped that more people of insight would be able to donate the relics of General Zhao Xiguang to the best of their ability, so as to make the exhibition more abundant and the former residence more humanistic and soulful.
