The European Parliament is becoming a drama of lies

The European Parliament passed the so-called Hong Kong-related resolution on the 20th, and also pointed fingers at Hong Kong affairs, wantonly smeared, and clamored for sanctions against officials of the Chinese central government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and also frantically "urged" The Chinese side to repeal the Hong Kong National Security Law, and even "called" for a boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics. A spokesman for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council said in a statement on the 21st that this once again exposed the arrogance, narrow-mindedness and shamelessness of some European politicians. It must be said that the spokesman's summary of the characteristics of these European politicians is really very good.

The current European Parliament is becoming more and more like a big drama group, with all kinds of anti-China figures of three religions and nine streams taking turns to appear on the scene, holding "China-related proposals" full of lies and deceptions. On July 8 last year, the European Parliament passed a so-called Hong Kong-related resolution. This time it is an "upgraded version" with several new additions to the original, including: asking the European Union to review support for Hong Kong's seat in the World Trade Organization, and accusing China of "coercing" and "intimidating" Lithuania. In the past, these politicians performed mediocrely in European politics, accidentally discovering the "traffic code" by playing the anti-China card, so they became more extreme and more arrogant than ever.

In the past year, the European Parliament has successively launched "anti-China resolutions" on China's Xinjiang, Taiwan, and Hong Kong issues, and there are as many as a dozen "resolutions" related to Taiwan alone. What does this mean? First, it shows that these people are anti-China for the sake of opposing China, and they have no understanding or interest in understanding the actual situation in Xinjiang, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, let alone caring about the lives of the people there. Second, it shows that the European Parliament has degenerated into a den of radical anti-China politicians in Europe, and they have come up with a production line of "anti-China resolutions," but the "resolutions" they packaged with lies will eventually be vulnerable in the face of the facts, otherwise will they still need to come out one after another?

In March last year, China decided to impose sanctions on 10 people and four entities in the EU that seriously undermined China's sovereignty and interests and maliciously spread lies and false information. Half of the sanctions list released by China are from the European Parliament. In fact, it is mainly these few grains of rat that have damaged the european parliament's pot of porridge. They tried to increase their influence by brushing up on their presence and brushing out some traffic; other parliamentarians listened to the wind and rain and became collective group blindness. Under their poisoning, the European Parliament's perception and basic judgment of China are easily problematic.

These anti-China lawmakers cannot hurt China, but they are becoming a black sheep in Europe. The EU has more than 2,300 enterprises and 350,000 citizens in Hong Kong, and in 2020, China surpassed the United States to become the EU's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching 586 billion euros, of which the total bilateral trade between Hong Kong and the EU reached 54 billion euros. For the sake of their own political capital, these anti-China politicians have instigated the European Parliament to paralyze the China-EU investment treaty process, preferring to use European interests as cannon fodder and pawns of Washington's Indo-Pacific strategy.

In the European Parliament, there are also sober people. In an exclusive interview with the Global Times, Irish-born EUROPEAN MEMBER Claire Daly bluntly pointed out that it is hypocritical to accuse members of the European Parliament of Chinese rights issues – they do not really care about human rights issues, but just want to gain geopolitical benefits. They are not concerned about human rights issues in Europe. As for Hong Kong, since the implementation of the National Security Law and the improvement of the election system, it is getting rid of black riots and turmoil, the incidence of crime has dropped sharply, and the number of companies stationed in Hong Kong will reach 9,049 in 2021, a record high, and the number of news media and practitioners has increased unabated. In a word, Hong Kong can't take turns and doesn't need them to "care".

And the vicious "anti-China package" they have sacrificed in turn has no other way out but self-digestion. Because they are more and more detached from the vital interests of the European people, no matter how hard they perform, they can only meet with the embarrassment of a few responders; because they cannot stop China's progress at all, their curse on China will surely regurgitate themselves and become an increasingly serious mental torture.
