New Year to the grassroots 丨 Yunnan Longyang: scientific land rectification, "tidy" out of the harvest year

Right now, it's the southern pea harvest season. Yang Hongji drives every day, shuttling through the field roads of Lutu Village, Xiyi Township, Longyang District, Baoshan County, Yunnan Province, buying peas, and is busy with sweat.

From the end of November last year to the present, Yang Hongji has purchased more than 100 tons of peas, sold more than 600,000 yuan, and has a net profit of more than 20,000 yuan. Coupled with the 15 acres of contiguous peas contracted by his family, he had an income of 170,000 yuan before the arrival of the new year. And such a good year is all "rectified" by land consolidation.

In recent years, Longyang District of Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, has deeply implemented the strategy of "hiding grain in the land and hiding grain in technology", focusing on promoting the construction of high-standard farmland, improving the quality of project construction, and achieving agricultural efficiency, rural beauty and farmers' income.

In Xiyi Township, after nearly a year of hard work, the cadres and masses have rectified the barren slopes and mountains with thin soil layers and scattered plots, and realized the high-standard farmland construction plan.

Lutu Village is a semi-mountainous hilly area and was once a poor village in Xiyi Township. In February 2021, the village implemented land consolidation projects, merged scattered plots, built small farmland water conservancy facilities, improved farmland cultivation roads, and coordinated the promotion of comprehensive improvement of fields, water, roads, forests, etc. 1350 mu of uneven and scattered farmland became standardized and efficient farmland with "square fields, connected roads, and mechanized farming", and the land that used to have low planting yields and difficulty to rent out was transformed into a "harvest field". Now standing on the hillside and looking around, the white pea flowers are clustered with successive blooms, and the terraces are scattered and turquoise. In the past, everyone did not dare to think that such a thin land could also be productive, and after a year, they planted flue-cured tobacco, peas, etc., and there was an income of tens of thousands of yuan per mu.

"Originally, it was difficult to plant one mu of land, and it was difficult to suffer two thousand yuan a year; now one mu is tens of thousands of yuan, four or five thousand tobacco, four or five thousand peas, and a double harvest!" Yang Hongji said happily.

Yang Yikun, director of the Xiyi Township Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center, introduced that they changed the slope land into terraces, and the small fields into large fields, and after the change, they realized mechanized operations, and at the same time equipped with machine ploughing roads and ditches, realizing that there are roads, ditches, and water, which has greatly improved the production conditions.

The total investment of the Land Consolidation Project in Xiyi Township is 24.3716 million yuan, and the construction of 15,000 mu of high-standard farmland has been completed in the five village committees of Lutu Village, Laterite Village, Zhenfeng Village, Concentrated Village and Xiongdong Village, of which 22 new irrigation and drainage projects with a total length of 22,760 meters; 1 new dam; and new water diversion pipelines and field roads have benefited more than 16,700 farmers in 4,482 households.

"Since the large plot of land was rehabilitated, it has been quite comfortable to plant! The road is open again, the water conservancy is also done well, the large machinery goes in, saving worry and effort, and the crops planted are better than the stubble. Yang Hongji said.

In accordance with the principle of "first circulation, then construction", Xiyi Township has developed characteristic industries in the land leveling project area in a unified manner, from flue-cured tobacco, corn and wheat in the past to high-output industries such as flue-cured tobacco, green peas and morel mushrooms, achieving an output value of 120 million yuan. Through the construction of high-standard farmland, the villagers benefit far more than that.

"After the land was transferred, the villagers' benefits increased several times." Yang Yikun said that the first is the increase in land rent, from the previous 200 blocks per mu to 700 blocks per mu, an increase of 500 yuan per mu; secondly, the increase in the collective economy, there was no collective economic income in the village before, and now 50 yuan of service fees are charged per mu.

In addition, land efficiency is also increasing, the income from migrant work at the doorstep is increasing, after the centralized circulation of land, there is land to plant green storage materials, and 16 large-scale farmers have been added to the township, which has also led to the rapid growth of the number and scale of small farmers.
