The first female soldier killed in the counterattack against Vietnam was only 24 years old, and only a piece of intestines remained!
According to relevant historical records, the first female soldier to die in the Vietnam War was named Guo Rongrong. Born in 1955, Guo Rongrong is a native of Fushan, Shandong, and in 1974, at the age of 19, Guo Rongrong joined the army and became a recruit in the 162nd Division, known as the "Central Plains Tiger Division".
Guo Rongrong was originally a literary and artistic soldier of the propaganda team of the division's political department, and the so-called literary and artistic soldiers were mostly amateur actors, who had to train like ordinary soldiers and enjoyed the treatment of ordinary soldiers. In the propaganda team, Guo Rongrong specializes in ballet.
To this end, she practiced the basic skills hard, and in a short period of time, her feet were injured many times, but she gritted her teeth and insisted, silently working hard in order to get on the stage as soon as possible.
Guo Rongrong's efforts were not in vain, and soon she became a small elf active on the stage, affectionately called "ballet goddess" by her comrades-in-arms.
Guo Rongrong's professionalism became a role model for her comrades-in-arms, and soon after joining the army, she was promoted to deputy squad leader. Later, Guo Rongrong was transferred to the film team as a projectionist. Don't underestimate this projectionist, it is an inevitable transition from "soldier" to "officer". In the propaganda team, it is just an ordinary soldier, and when it comes to the film team, it is the place to train cadres, which is an affirmation and praise for Guo Rongrong.
Guo Rongrong, who is called "projectionist", is actually an all-rounder on the propaganda and cultural front. Movies, theatrical performances, conference support, playing and singing, everything must be proficient.
In the hearts of the warriors, they are star-ranking figures. Due to the daily contact with the soldiers, Guo Rongrong soon became the star in the hearts of the soldiers, and was known as "the most beautiful female soldier in the division".
Just after New Year's Day in 1979, Guo Rongrong was promoted to the head of the screening team of the film team. At the same time, the troops received orders to go south to Guangxi to participate in the war.
After moving from Henan to Guangxi, Guo Rongrong and his comrades in arms of the film team were assigned to the "Wounded and Martyrs Group". The full name of this group is called the "Wounded martyrs' shelter group". The task of the "Wounded and Martyrs Group" is to shelter and bury the remains of martyrs and do a good job in the work of compensating martyrs. Guo Rongrong's task is to directly contact and deal with the remains of martyrs and take care of the backbone of the seriously injured.
Guo Rongrong left Shuikouguan with the division on February 19. During the battle, the remains of the martyrs were transported down like flowing water. The mission of the Wounded and Martyrs Group is to use trucks to pull the wounded and martyrs back home, running between the battlefield and the rear almost every day, at any time may encounter enemy roadside blockades and cold guns in the jungle.
On February 25, at the Battle of Gaoping, Guo Rongrong rushed to the front line with the wounded and martyr group. On the afternoon of the 26th, she and her comrades-in-arms carried the remains of the martyrs to the car and returned to China. In the evening, while passing a mountain road, the ongoing convoy was suddenly ambushed by an enemy ambush in the dense forest. Machine gun bullets rained down on the car of the containment team, and Guo Rongrong, who was sitting in the back of the car, was unfortunately shot and died on the spot.
Because the driver was also injured and the car could not move, the captain of the shelter team led the rest of the people to get out of the car and retreat to the woods on the side of the road to hide.
After the enemy attacked the shelter car, it set fire to it. The next day, when they rushed back, Guo Rongrong's body had been burned to the point where only a small piece of intestine remained. Later, the captain burned her intestines and brought her "ashes back to China intact."
Guo Rongrong sacrificed in order to bring the remains of his fallen comrades back to China, but his own body could not return to the motherland land that nurtured himself and dedicated his life to it.
Kwok Yung Yung was the only female soldier who died and her body could not be transported back to China, and was the first female soldier to die in the Vietnam War. After Guo Rongrong's sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the third class merit.
