Last year, Li Yuxi, a member of the national medical team and attending physician of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, received a 1-year-old and semi-Tibetan girl with a lame walking woman, Baima Zhuoga, during his aid to Tibet. In order to help her receive treatment as soon as possible, under the "escort" of the orthopedic surgery team of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Xiao Zhuoga's family left the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for Guangzhou to receive surgical treatment.
"Advanced age" children 18 months old
Before encountering the national medical team, The crippled phenomenon of Little Zhuoga had lasted for 3 months and had not been effectively treated. I heard that the national medical team was stationed in the local area, and Zhuo Ga's father, who was an ambulance driver at the Bomi County People's Hospital, rushed to bring Little Zhuo Ga to seek medical treatment. After physical examination and video shooting, it was found that Little Zhuoga suffered from "developmental hip dislocation", the left acetabular dysplasia, and the femoral head had been prolapsed out of the acetabular.

"Her left leg is 1-2 cm shorter than her right leg, which is very obvious for a small child who is only 60 cm tall, which is why she is limp." Dr. Li Yuxi said that the normal femoral head should be located in the joint socket, and the hip dislocation causes the calf bone and thigh bone to move upwards, resulting in abnormal development of the entire leg bone.
If the patient is a child under 6 months of age, the doctor may correct the position in a conservative manner. However, the age of little Droga is more than 18 months, which belongs to the "advanced age", and the degree of dislocation is relatively severe, and only pelvic osteotomy can be performed as soon as possible. This type of surgery is extremely technically demanding, and the local hospital does not have the conditions, leaving Little Zhuoga's parents helpless.
Gao Liangbin, director of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, proposed that patients go to the headquarters of Guangzhou Hospital for surgery. After active coordination by all parties, at the end of December last year, the Xiao Zhuoga family boarded a plane to Guangzhou.
"On average, one in 1,000 children has a case of 'developmental hip dislocation,' mostly women." Xu Jie, the chief surgeon and professor of joint surgery, introduced that Xiao Zhuoga's surgery needs to first cut off the tense muscles, then truncate and rebuild the pelvis, reshape the normal acetabular morphology, and reduce the hip joint to avoid dislocation in the future.

On the eve of the operation, the parents of Little Droga are still full of uncertainty and worry about the surgical treatment, and when it comes to the child, Little Droga's mother often can't help but cry. To this end, the doctor team has repeatedly communicated with the parents of Little Zhuoga, explaining the necessity of surgery, steps and postoperative rehabilitation plan, helping them to regain confidence in the operation.
On January 10, Xu Jie and his team spent 4 hours and successfully performed surgery on Little Zhuoga. In order to recover smoothly after the operation, the two legs of little Drogga were fixed by a plaster cast and stretched out like a frog.
"We felt a little uncomfortable seeing the plaster fixation of this 'frog position', let alone a child over a year old." In order to reduce Little Zhuoga's discomfort, Li Yuxi took her child's toys to the hospital to give her to help her distract herself. Under the meticulous care of the medical staff, Little Zhuoga recovered well, and he also needed walking training after the subsequent replacement of the fixed brace. In the future, she is expected to grow up like other children.
