Tokyo, 20 Jan (Xinhua) -- When meeting with Yang Yu, chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Japan on 20 January, Yohei Kono, chairman of the Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade (CIIT), and former speaker of the House of Representatives, said: Guotan is willing to continue to play a positive role in promoting the improvement and development of bilateral relations and sincerely looks forward to the successful holding of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Yohei Kono said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and hoped that the two sides would make joint efforts to make this year a year of great significance in the development of Japan-China relations. Guomao is willing to continue to play an active role in promoting the improvement and development of bilateral relations. Yohei Kono said that he served as the president of Japan's "Meeting of Parliamentarians Supporting the Beijing Olympic Games" and sincerely looked forward to the successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Yang Yu said that CIITC is committed to promoting Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation and has made important contributions to the improvement and development of bilateral relations. It is hoped that GUOMAO will take the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to carry forward the tradition of people-to-people friendship, deepen exchanges and cooperation with China, promote people-to-people ties between China and Japan, and help build China-Japan relations that meet the requirements of the new era.
