On December 9, 2023, the results of the 2022-2023 National Quality Engineering Award were announced. Jingneng Group's "Zhangjiakou-Beijing Renewable Energy Comprehensive Application Demonstration Project" project won the National Quality Project Gold Award, becoming the first million-kilowatt onshore wind power project in China to win the award.
Overview of the winning project
As the supporting infrastructure for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the "Zhangjiakou-Beijing Renewable Energy Comprehensive Application Demonstration Project" project built by Beijing Energy Clean Energy Beijing Branch has a total installed capacity of 1.15 million kilowatts, consisting of 7 wind farms and 4 220 kV booster stations. The project started construction in July 2020 and was fully put into operation in December 2021, which can generate 3.064 billion kWh of green electricity per year, meet the annual electricity demand of 900,000 households, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3.05 million tons, and save about 1 million tons of standard coal.
During the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics, the project will supply 170 million kWh of green electricity free of charge and concessions, so that the entire Yanqing Winter Olympic Village and Mountain News Center will achieve 100% renewable energy heating, and help the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics achieve 100% green electricity supply for all venues for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games.
Today, the project sends green electricity to Beijing through the Zhangbei Rouzhi and Zhangxiong UHV transmission channels, and forms a new industrial chain model of "upstream wind power, downstream green electricity hydrogen production and heating" with the Yanqing competition area of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Fangshan District green electricity hydrogen production project and the Fengtai District Jingfeng green electricity heating pilot project, providing comprehensive clean energy guarantee for the capital.
On May 21, 2024, Beijing Jingneng Clean Energy Power Co., Ltd. will share the construction practice of the Zhangjiakou-Beijing Renewable Energy Comprehensive Application Demonstration Project at the "First Seminar on Clean, Efficient, Flexible and Intelligent Innovation and Development of Power Generation Enterprises" hosted by Polaris Power Network, and discuss how the wind power gold medal project is made!
