South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Choi Yong-shan said on the 20th local time that the South Korean government pays close attention to the statement that the DPRK is considering restarting nuclear tests and intercontinental ballistic missile tests, and pays attention to a series of relevant trends of the DPRK. In the future, the ROK Government will continue to adhere to the principle of resolving the Peninsula issue through dialogue and diplomacy, and on the basis of this principle, it will maintain close consultations with the United States and other relevant countries to stabilize and control the situation on the Peninsula.

South Korean unification ministry officials also said on the same day that the government is paying close attention to the dprk's movements and calling on the DPRK to return to dialogue.

According to a report by the KCNA on the 20th, the Workers' Party of Korea convened the sixth Politburo meeting of the Eighth Central Committee, asking relevant departments to re-examine the measures taken by the DPRK to establish mutual trust with the United States on its own initiative and to discuss in a timely manner whether it is necessary to restart all activities suspended during the period.

North Korea announced at the third plenary session of the Workers' Party's Seventh Central Committee in April 2018 that it would dismantle the northern nuclear test site and completely stop nuclear tests and test-fire of intercontinental ballistic missiles. The South Korean side speculated that the Politburo meeting in North Korea may hint that it will restart related activities. (Reporter Zhang Yun)
