Several Slovenian politicians have criticized Prime Minister Sri Lanka's erroneous remarks on Taiwan

Ljubljana, 20 Jan (Xinhua) -- A number of Slovenian politicians recently criticized Sri Lankan Prime Minister Janssa's erroneous remarks on Taiwan-related issues, pointing out that this is not in line with Sri Lanka's foreign policy.

Former Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Čelar said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency on the 19th that Jansa made this statement without obtaining a broad political and social consensus, which is "very disturbing." Czerar pointed out that Slovenia has not given up its position of supporting the one-China policy. The Sescondich Parliament should take a stand on this matter.

Slovenia's center-left political party Šarečaşc list party mp Nick Prebier issued a statement to the media on the 19th, expressing shock and indignation at Jansa's erroneous remarks and behavior, pointing out that this has brought negative effects to Slovenia and worsened relations between Sri Lanka and China.

Mattjaz Nemec, vice chairman of the Slovenian Social Democratic Party and member of the Foreign Policy Committee, criticized Janša's behavior on the 19th, pointing out that it was not in line with Slovenian foreign policy. The Social Democrats also launched an initiative on the same day to ask the Parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee to convene a meeting on the matter.

Slovenian Minister of Economic Development and Technology Zdravko Bočivášek said on social media Facebook on the 19th that China is one of Slovenia's largest economic partners outside the EUROPEAN Union, and economic cooperation between the two countries is constantly strengthening.
