author:8 o'clock school choice

The Guangdong Provincial Education Examination Institute issued the "2022 Guidelines for the Joint Recruitment of Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students by Ordinary Colleges and Universities of the People's Republic of China".

There have always been many parents who want to run a Hong Kong identity and parents who are already Hong Kong treasures, to consult the school choice jun about the child's reading problem, just we can use the freshly baked policy to interpret it together, to see if your child does not meet the conditions, and which domestic famous schools can be read through the joint examination!

01

Why can't I take the JAE exam with Hong Kong status?

Helping children to study well in college is the wish of every parent. However, the admission rate of good universities in China is low, the competitive pressure is high, and most students have no chance with famous universities.

If you pass the joint examination for overseas Chinese students, the full name is "the people's republic of China ordinary institutions of higher learning jointly recruit overseas Chinese and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan", you have the opportunity to enter Tsinghua, Peking University and 985, 211 and other first-class famous schools with low scores.

The Joint Entrance Examination for Overseas Chinese Students is a special college entrance examination designed by the Ministry of Education of China for overseas Chinese and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students, and is the main way for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese students to apply for Chinese mainland universities.

That is to say, as long as your child meets one of the identities of "Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese", he can take this exam.

However, many parents have come to ask the school choice: Why can't my children take the overseas Chinese students' joint examination when they have Hong Kong status?

In fact, many parents have a lot of misunderstandings about Hong Kong identity, and before answering the above questions, we must first understand which category of children's identity belongs.

It can be roughly divided into these 5 categories:

1. Double non-"Hong Kong Treasure"

Born in Hong Kong, the parents are not Hong Kong babies, which is the largest proportion of the five types of Hong Kong treasures.

2. Holding a temporary status

Less than 7 years can not transfer to permanent residence, temporarily hold a temporary status in Hong Kong. Such Hong Kong treasures still hold mainland household registration.

3. Holding permanent residence, but not applying for a "home return permit"

This kind of Gangbao, which has not applied for a "home return permit", indicates that it has not yet given up its household registration in the mainland.

4. Holding a permanent residence + "home return permit"

Holding a "home return permit" means that the Chinese nationality has been cut off and the Chinese identity has been abandoned.

5. Natives of Hong Kong

Both parents are Hong Kongers and the children are also natives born in Hong Kong.

Among these 5 types of identities, only the 1st, 4th and 5th categories can participate in the overseas Chinese students joint examination.

02

Does the child need to live in Hong Kong for at least 2 years?

For example, many parents will ask, my child is a Hong Kong citizen, and if he wants to participate in the overseas Chinese student examination, is it necessary to live in Hong Kong for 2 years to register?

In fact, parents confuse Hong Kong students with overseas Chinese students, and there is an essential difference between the two:

Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan need to hold "3 certificates": local identity card, home return certificate and high school education certificate.

Overseas Chinese students refer to those who hold a foreign green card (permanent residence) and live and study locally at least from the second to third years of high school, accompanied by one parent.

There is also a special category of candidates, although they do not hold a green card, but if they have studied and lived in their home country since the second year of junior high school or earlier, and are accompanied by one of their parents until the third year of high school, they are also eligible to participate in the joint examination.

To put it simply, overseas Chinese students have residency requirements, while Hong Kong students have no residency requirements.

The minimum admission score is only 200 points!

We see that the admission score line of the 2021 Overseas Chinese Students Joint Examination released by the Guangdong Provincial Education Examination Institute last year is only 200 points.

In addition, we see in the annex that the minimum admission score line of famous schools including Peking University and Tsinghua University is only 400 points, and there are as many as 131 admission institutions.

We can intuitively see that the admission score of the overseas Chinese students joint examination is far lower than that of the ordinary college entrance examination. Last year, the number of people participating in the joint examination for overseas Chinese students was less than 5,000, but at present, there are more than 300 colleges and universities in the country that recruit overseas Chinese students, and they can provide up to 15,000 admission places every year.

Therefore, it is easier to participate in the joint examination for overseas Chinese students and go to a prestigious school to study.

In terms of examination subjects, science does not test biology, and liberal arts does not test politics, which relatively reduces some of the preparation pressure; other subjects are the same as the college entrance examination, science and engineering examination subjects are Chinese, mathematics, English, physics, chemistry; literature and history examination subjects are Chinese, mathematics, English, history, geography.

Each subject has a maximum score of 150 points and each exam category has a maximum score of 750 points.

This year, as in previous years, the registration is in March, and the examination is held in May, which is divided into six examination areas: Beijing, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau.

The school choice jun has something to say

Through the above interpretation, I believe that parents have a basic understanding of the advantages of the overseas Chinese joint examination and Hong Kong identity.

Finally, I would like to remind everyone that there are different ways of identity planning according to their own conditions. It generally takes 7 years to transfer from Temporary Status in Hong Kong to Permanent Residence Status in Hong Kong, so parents should plan their children's identity in advance as early as possible, and start preparing at the primary school level or even in kindergarten.
