Beijing, 20 Jan (China News Service) -- As the Spring Festival approaches, the enthusiasm for returning to the hometown to buy a house has heated up.

According to the "2021-2022 Homecoming Home Purchase Report" released by 58.com and Settlers on the 20th, this year, 40% of respondents plan to return to their hometowns to buy houses, and nearly half of the respondents choose to buy a house in a working city.

Returning to the hometown to buy a house refers to the spring festival every year, when the people working outside the country return to their hometown to bring certain demand for a safe home, thus forming a New Year phenomenon with Chinese characteristics of "returning to the hometown to buy a house". In the past two years, under the call of epidemic prevention and control and local New Year's Day, returning to the hometown to buy a house has cooled down significantly.

Judging from the data of last year's Spring Festival, among the new first-tier cities, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an and Suzhou will be more attractive to the return of extroverts in 2021, and the situation of returning to the hometown is comparable to that in 2020, and the heat is relatively high; the ranking of the popularity of Hangzhou, Nanjing, Dongguan, Wuhan and Zhengzhou to return to the hometown has risen, and the ranking of the popularity of Changsha returning to the hometown has declined.

How is it going this year? The report shows that the proportion of those who are willing to return to their hometowns to buy a house has increased. In this survey, 41.2% of the people who chose to return to their hometowns in 2022 to buy a house, including those who bought a house in their hometown and the provincial capital city of their hometown; nearly half of the people who chose to buy a house in a working city accounted for 49.7%; and another 9.1% of the people chose to buy a house in the surrounding cities of the work city. Compared with the previous data, the proportion of returnees to buy a house this year has increased to a certain extent, from 37.8% last year to 41.2%.

As for the reasons for returning to their hometown to buy a house, the report pointed out that the people who chose to return to their hometowns for development this year were mainly attracted by preferential policies such as talents and settlement, accounting for 56.3% from 27.0% last year. The second reason is the convenience of taking care of parents and families, accounting for 48.4%. Housing price pressures in big cities are also an important reason for people to go home to buy a home, with more than half of the people choosing this option. In addition, the fast pace of life, less and more with relatives and friends, and high occupational pressure also reduce people's willingness to stay in big cities to a certain extent.

Among those who remain in the struggle of the big cities, the education of children has become an important reason. The report pointed out that in the survey, 74.3% of the people chose this item, up from 51.1% last year. In addition, better career development, more convenient living environment, better medical conditions are also important reasons for people to stay in the city of work, the hometown job opportunities, educational resources, medical level is not as good as the big city, making this part of the population reluctant to return to the hometown to develop.
