Taiyuan, People's Daily Online, January 20 (Duan Siqi) When I was a child, every New Year's Day, every household would post auspicious New Year paintings, with bright colors and joy. Today, "On the Field of Hope - Meng Yangyu New Year Painting Exhibition" is exhibited at the Chongsheng Ancestral Hall of Shanxi Archaeological Museum, and the works in this exhibition are mainly selected from the New Year paintings created by Mr. Meng Yangyu in the 1950s and 1980s, with a wide range of themes, rich content, distinct characteristics of the times, and extremely profound excellent traditional culture. The exhibition will run until 20 March.

New Year painting is a kind of art form with educational significance and life interest that is the most popular among the Chinese people, it is a necessary artwork for welcoming the New Year and festivals, and it pins people's wishes for blessings and wealth, driving away disasters and avoiding evil spirits, such as smooth wind and rain, agricultural harvest, family home antai, and peace of people and horses. The New Year paintings created by Mr. Meng Yangyu warm the soul and enlighten the mind, pinning the people's yearning and pursuit of a better life, which continues unceasingly and continues to this day.

Meng Yangyu was born in 1934 in Wenshui, Shanxi. He is a member of the China Artists Association, and was awarded the title of "1999-2000 China Baijie Painter" by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the honor of "Virtue and Art Shuangxin" of the People's Republic of China in 2011, and the title of "People's Artist" by the Lvliang Municipal Government. In the past 70 years of artistic creation, 24 kinds of annual paintings and 13 kinds of villain books have been published by the People's Fine Arts Publishing House and the Shanxi People's Publishing House, and distributed in Xinhua bookstores nationwide, with tens of millions of copies (volumes). He has published two volumes of "Meng Yangyu Painting Collection", and his artistic achievements have been recorded in the "Who's Who in the World" and "Shanxi Art History" and other historical records.
