According to reports, unlike the traditional single-layer safety glass used on the side and rear of the car, these glasses have a total of 5 layers, including three layers of film and two layers of glass. The middle three layers are polyvinyl butyral (PVB) films, which have special acoustic properties and can absorb most of the vibrations generated by the surrounding glass.

In the frequency range of 630 Hz to 6.3 kH, this can reduce external noise by up to 7.3%. Ochs said: "That sounds like nothing. However, those who have tested different driving conditions will have a deep understanding. This effectively covers the most sensitive range of the human ear, which is around 3.5 to 4.0 kHz. Police, fire truck and ambulance sirens are always so loud, because globally, their frequency is almost always between 360 and 630 hertz. ”

Porsche said it would install double glazing throughout the entire body, including small triangular windows and rear windows. In addition, it will also produce the effect that the weight of acoustic glass is slightly lighter than that of standard products. In the case of the Panamera model, the weight is about two kilograms less. In addition, an additional film layer makes the glass more resistant to breakage. This additional insulation can be ordered in combination with thermally insulating glass and is not very different from standard glass in appearance.
