Gaborone, 19 Jan (Xinhua) -- On the occasion of the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, Botswana Olympic Committee President Bosan Janigo recently recorded a video in support of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
In the video, Bossan said that he supported the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics on behalf of Botswana and the African Olympic Movement. He said that while countries may differ politically, culturally and economically, he said, he hoped everyone in the world's sports community would support the Beijing Winter Olympics. They have always believed that sporting events are not political platforms, and that the Olympics themselves have nothing to do with politics.
"We hope that China will make this Winter Olympics the best and most memorable competition in the history of the Olympic Movement." Bossan said.

Bossan also looked back on the pomp and circumstance of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He said the 2008 Beijing Olympics was one of the most memorable events in history, and the most important one was that Botswana participated in the Beijing Olympics and reached the final of the men's 400m event for the first time.
At the Tokyo Olympics, the Botswana team finished third in the men's 4x400m, winning the second Olympic medal in the country's history.
