Northern Wei, Eastern Wei, and Western Wei were all of the Tuoba clan (元氏), and the Northern Wei was founded by the Daowu Emperor Tuoba Jue, while both Eastern Wei and Western Wei originated from Northern Wei and were split by Northern Wei.
