The text of the large-scale musical drama "Big River" comes from the long poem of the same name by the famous poet Gidimaga, with a total of more than 300 lines, the language is pure and atmospheric, and the style is magnificent and high. Jidimaga is currently the most awarded Contemporary Chinese poet in the world, and is also the contemporary Chinese poet whose works have been translated into foreign languages. "The Great River" sings the praise of light with a broad and profound momentum, and is an epic and philosophical song of life.

In August 2021, Tao Cheng, president of the China Opera and Dance Theatre, Ji Di Majia, screenwriter, and Guo Wenjing, composer, led a team to collect wind at the source of the Three Rivers in Qinghai to learn from local artists and folklore experts. Writing about the Yellow River has always been Ji Di Maga's wish, he has worked and lived in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for many years, and he also has a special affection for the Yellow River. Ji Di Maga exerted his poetic temperament of being good at thinking to write about the Yellow River, "I think it is necessary to abstract the Yellow River, have a holistic and macroscopic grasp of the Yellow River, and carry out a philosophical and metaphysical temperament excavation."
