The ruins of Ninggu Pagoda are located in the ancient city village of Changting Town, Hailin, which was originally an important town in the northeast frontier of the Qing Dynasty, and was also the local military, political and economic center. But later, with the needs of the Rulers of the Qing Dynasty, the political center moved south, and the area slowly declined and became a ruin.
When you first hear the name ninggu pagoda, many people will think that it is a tower called "Ningu". But in fact, in Manchurian legend, the Manchu Qing ancestors had six brothers, all of whom lived here, and the Manchu "Ninggu" means "six", and "tower" means "one". Therefore, Ninguta at that time referred to the legendary six brothers of the Manchu ancestors, not the name of the pagoda.
In the process of moving the center of the Qing Dynasty to the south, it was successively moved to Shengjing (Shenyang), Beijing, and finally the capital was Beijing. However, because of the important location of Ninguta, there are still many garrisons in the area. Because of their mysterious color, these garrisons were called "armored men" by the people of the world at that time.
This is where "sending Ninguta, slaves with the Phi Phi People!" This is a phrase that the Qing emperor often hangs on his lips.
In fact, this is a kind of punishment, because the Ninguta area is cold all year round and has been sparsely populated since ancient times. During the Qing Dynasty, in order to punish criminals, criminals and their families were often exiled here, serving as slaves to the garrison and engaging in labor reform work.
The place is very cold, and the criminals have to bear to go out and work every day. Some criminals heard that they had been sent to Ninguta as slaves, and their hearts were basically half dead, this is a cold region, starved to death, frozen to death, exhausted, tortured countless people, many criminals would rather commit suicide than suffer this crime before death.
Slavery to the "Phi Phi Man" also has an official title, which is called "Aha" in Manchu. "Cloaked men" gradually became synonymous with the orthodox Jurchen army, and their status gradually improved. And this place of exile of the blood and tears of criminals in "Ninguta" has also become a pleasing scenic spot in later generations.
