Some market research agencies Canalys released data on the global PERSONAL COMPUTER market in 2021. According to the data, global PC shipments in 2021 increased by 15% year-on-year to 341 million units, an increase of 27% over 2019 and a new high since 2012.
Specifically, in the fourth quarter of last year, Lenovo ranked first in the personal computer market, with total shipments of 21.7 million units, down 6.5% year-on-year, and at the same time, Lenovo was also the largest supplier in 2021, with shipments of 82.1 million units, an increase of 13.1% year-on-year.
HP ranked second with 18.7 million units and 74.1 million units shipped in the fourth quarter, while Dell, ranked third, achieved an 8.9% increase in the fourth quarter to 17.2 million units, an increase in market share of more than 1%, and a total annual shipment of 59.3 million units.
It is worth mentioning that Apple ranked fourth, with an increase of 9.0% in the fourth quarter and a full-year growth of 28.3%, becoming the best growth performer in the top five.
Apple shipped 7.8 million units in the fourth quarter and 29 million units in the full year of 2021, the data showed.
Canalys senior analysts say that since the outbreak, the rate at which the customer base has purchased new PCs rather than replaced devices has exceeded normal levels, especially in areas such as education and remote work. It laid the foundation for the continued success of the PC industry.
