A few days ago, the DPRK once again successfully test-fired its self-developed railway mobile ballistic missile. In this test, the railway mobile ballistic missile launched by North Korea flew a certain distance and accurately hit the intended target in the East China Sea.

According to north Korea's current information, its mission to test a railway mobile ballistic missile was carried out on January 14, 2022. On the day of the missile test, the DPRK Railway Mobile Missile Regiment, after receiving an urgent task from the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, relied on the DPRK's own railway network to quickly drive the missile train equipped with missile launchers and missiles to the designated launch position. Subsequently, the operators on the missile train fired two railway mobile ballistic missiles at the intended target based on the actual target information.

That railway mobile ballistic missile, belongs to one of the "military railway missile weapon systems", generally refers to the train as a launch platform and vehicle of all kinds of land-based ballistic missiles, because, when relying on a strong railway network, has good mobility, strong concealment and other advantages, therefore, is also known as "land ballistic missile nuclear submarines." In the previous Cold War period, the two major nuclear powers of the United States and the Soviet Union also developed separately, and even equipped with their own railway mobile ballistic missiles, for example, the SS-24 railway mobile intercontinental strategic ballistic missile developed and equipped during the former Soviet Union period is one of the typical representative equipment.

Specific to the DPRK itself, because the DPRK itself has built a better railway network, and in the mountainous geographical environment, the DPRK has also built a large number of railway tunnels, so, taking advantage of these advantages, the DPRK to develop the railway mobile ballistic missile, it can naturally ensure the wartime mobility, survivability and concealment of its railway mobile ballistic missile. Of course, due to technical and actual combat objectives and other reasons, most of the existing railway mobile ballistic missiles in north Korea are equipped with land-based short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, for example, its test is the new generation of north Korean land-based medium- and short-range solid-fuel ballistic missiles called KN-23, and its longest range is 800 kilometers. The first successful test has been conducted.

Compared with last year's test, one of the biggest differences in the process of North Korea's test firing of railway mobile ballistic missiles is that North Korea fired two ballistic missiles of the same type at the same time. Such an approach shows that the DPRK already has a certain technical reserve for tactical tactics such as ballistic missile salvo and corresponding command and control. In actual combat, the use of ballistic missile salvos at enemy targets can be a good way to enhance the success rate of its own ballistic missiles themselves on targets when facing the enemy's air defense and anti-missile systems.
