Subcutaneous implant needles have three distinct advantages: they are effective, easy to operate, and reversible.
Data show that subcutaneous implantation is more effective than 99% and is now one of the most effective forms of contraception [1].
Although the correct use of condoms can also be 98% efficient, many people can not use condoms every time when they use condoms every time, so the actual effectiveness may be greatly reduced.
Oral short-acting contraceptives also need to be taken regularly every day according to the instructions to achieve the desired effect, and once there is one or two missed doses, it will also affect the effectiveness of contraception.
The burial process is simple, the operation process is not very painful, and it will hardly affect work and life.
If you have any discomfort during the validity period of the implant (usually 3 years), or if you are planning to become pregnant, you can also choose to remove the contraceptive needle at any time.
After one week of removal, the progesterone released by the contraceptive needle in the body is basically gone, and most women will resume ovulation within 3 to 4 weeks and can have children.
Of course, after the burial period has passed, the implant needle must be removed.
Subcutaneous implantation is a safe and effective option for women who are breastfeeding and are not suitable for estrogen-based contraceptives (the needle contains only progesterone), or for women who cannot hold on to & remember to take short-acting contraceptives every day [2].
Progesterone can also reduce menstrual flow, so it is also suitable for people who want to improve menstruation or dysmenorrhea.
However, if you already have one of the following 4 conditions, you are not suitable for contraception with subcutaneous implants:
There are irregular vaginal bleeds of unknown cause
Women with coronary heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, stroke history, and vascular embolism
Women with a history of liver disease, cirrhosis, liver tumors
Women with a history of breast tumors

When the contraceptive needle is first implanted, there may be slight discomfort such as itching, pain, swelling, etc. near the implant site.
After implantation, there may be: irregular menstruation, drip bleeding, irregular vaginal bleeding (an adverse reaction that can occur with any hormonal contraceptive method is irregular bleeding), amenorrhea, which may improve with prolonged placement.
Others will have headaches, mood changes, weight changes, etc., but the incidence is not high, and the general symptoms are not serious.
The good news is that if there are intolerable side effects, the needle can be removed at any time.
If you have adapted for about half a year and still have irregular vaginal bleeding or other discomfort, you can consider removing the skin and burying it, and changing to other contraceptive methods.
