For contraception, I buried 1 needle in my arm...

Case 1:

Xiao Meng, Liaoning

When I walked out of the hospital after doing the subcutaneous implant, my feeling was: relieved.

Since I was a child, I have had painful menstruation, and when I was a child, others told me that "it is good to get married", and after marriage, I said "it is good to have children".

Until now, I have given birth to a second child, and it still hurts when it hurts.

After giving birth to my second child, I did not plan to have another child, so when choosing the contraceptive method, I chose to bury the skin with the mentality of trying it out.

There are many cases in which dysmenorrhea is relieved after implantation, and there are also cases of decreased menstrual flow or amenorrhea.

I did it in my hometown of Liaoning, before and after the examination + surgery, the cost is about 2,000 yuan, many people may feel expensive. But compared with the pain every month to death and even delay work, it is really worth it.

The implant surgery was much faster than I thought, and it took about 5 minutes. On April 10th, planting, on the 27th began irregular bleeding, the amount of blood is very small, but in addition to a little discomfort in the stomach, there has been no more pain in the past two months.

Finally, you can stop menstruation!

Case 2:

Mustang, Guangzhou

The reason I did the skin burial was because I wanted to gain contraceptive autonomy.

No matter what the situation, I don't want to get pregnant, so I hope to start from my own side and fundamentally eliminate the possibility of pregnancy.

In the effective contraceptive method, I don't think I can insist on eating the contraceptive pill, in case I forget or miss to eat, the effect will be reduced.

The doctor also reminded me to consider Sheung Wan, but I usually feel uncomfortable doing gynecological examinations, and IUD makes me feel very scared.

After investigation, I still think that the skin burial surgery is fast and the trauma is small, so I chose the skin burial surgery.

The cost of surgery + implant for skin burial is 964.76 yuan, but before doing it, I also did a series of examinations, and the cost of the examination was nearly 1,000 yuan.

Prescription notes for subcutaneous implant surgery

After doing it on May 31 this year, half a month after the skin was buried, I came to my great aunt, and now it has not been clean for 15 days.

However, before doing it, I also understood that irregular menstruation is often uncomfortable with skin burial, and there is also psychological preparation. Now I feel like everything is normal.

Subcutaneous implants, referred to as skin implants, were actually recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the 1980s [1].

It is a small hose about 40 mm long (containing a dose of progesterone) that is implanted under the skin on the inside of the woman's upper arm, which can slowly release progesterone.

Subcutaneous needle contraception is generally valid for up to 3 years, so it is suitable for people who do not plan to have children for a long period of time.

Subcutaneous implant needles have three distinct advantages: they are effective, easy to operate, and reversible.

Data show that subcutaneous implantation is more effective than 99% and is now one of the most effective forms of contraception [1].

Although the correct use of condoms can also be 98% efficient, many people can not use condoms every time when they use condoms every time, so the actual effectiveness may be greatly reduced.

Oral short-acting contraceptives also need to be taken regularly every day according to the instructions to achieve the desired effect, and once there is one or two missed doses, it will also affect the effectiveness of contraception.

The burial process is simple, the operation process is not very painful, and it will hardly affect work and life.

If you have any discomfort during the validity period of the implant (usually 3 years), or if you are planning to become pregnant, you can also choose to remove the contraceptive needle at any time.

After one week of removal, the progesterone released by the contraceptive needle in the body is basically gone, and most women will resume ovulation within 3 to 4 weeks and can have children.

Of course, after the burial period has passed, the implant needle must be removed.

Subcutaneous implantation is a safe and effective option for women who are breastfeeding and are not suitable for estrogen-based contraceptives (the needle contains only progesterone), or for women who cannot hold on to & remember to take short-acting contraceptives every day [2].

Progesterone can also reduce menstrual flow, so it is also suitable for people who want to improve menstruation or dysmenorrhea.

However, if you already have one of the following 4 conditions, you are not suitable for contraception with subcutaneous implants:

There are irregular vaginal bleeds of unknown cause

Women with coronary heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, stroke history, and vascular embolism

Women with a history of liver disease, cirrhosis, liver tumors

Women with a history of breast tumors

Yes!

When the contraceptive needle is first implanted, there may be slight discomfort such as itching, pain, swelling, etc. near the implant site.

After implantation, there may be: irregular menstruation, drip bleeding, irregular vaginal bleeding (an adverse reaction that can occur with any hormonal contraceptive method is irregular bleeding), amenorrhea, which may improve with prolonged placement.

Others will have headaches, mood changes, weight changes, etc., but the incidence is not high, and the general symptoms are not serious.

The good news is that if there are intolerable side effects, the needle can be removed at any time.

If you have adapted for about half a year and still have irregular vaginal bleeding or other discomfort, you can consider removing the skin and burying it, and changing to other contraceptive methods.

Regarding the comparison of short-acting oral contraceptives, intrauterine contraceptives, male condoms and subcutaneous implants, Zhimei also summarized the following table for you:

We encourage every woman to choose the most suitable contraceptive method after comprehensively understanding and considering the pros and cons.
