"Inheriting and carrying forward the revolutionary spirit of the ancestors and inheriting the red gene" is the belief that Li Ling and his comrades-in-arms have integrated into the bloodline. The "Golden Helmet" symbolizes the superb technical skills of the pilot and is the supreme honor of the pilot of the Fighter Air Force. This "defeat" made Li Ling, then the deputy commander of a large flying brigade, remember vividly: when they were still pulling more loads and moving more fiercely than whom, the opponents had already relied on electronic confrontation and quietly occupied the commanding heights of the battlefield.

"In team combat, every comrade must catch up." Li Ling also remembered that at that time, 19 pilots were transferred from foreign units, which caused uneven pilot levels for a time, and many pilots transferred from the second-generation aircraft unit had difficulty adapting to the new rhythm. In this regard, he went to the command site every time to give detailed comments on the training of all pilots, strict requirements for action, altitude, and parameters, pointed out problems in person, corrected problems, and let these "later" pilots gradually keep up with the rhythm of the team.

After the new training outline was fully implemented, in order to establish a long-term mechanism to enhance the combat effectiveness of the team, Li Ling took the lead in research and exploration. After each flight training, he came to the evaluation room for the first time, interpreted the flight reference information of important situations frame by frame, and summarized a variety of training methods.

Only if the team is strong enough can it be invincible on the battlefields of the future. Under the leadership of Li Ling, the unit was rated as "advanced unit in the regularization construction of the whole army" and "advanced unit in military training of the whole army", and was awarded the honorary title of "Pioneer Flying Brigade of the Strong Army".

"Every takeoff is to meet the enemy"

"Flight training is not only training for combat, but also training for immediate combat, that is, to establish the concept that every take-off is to meet the enemy and take-off is to fight." Pilot Wang Yu said that the standard requirements of the brigade commander for flight can be described as harsh, "the brigade commander often says that there is no limit to the standard of actual combat, and it is necessary to achieve selflessness in order to give full play to the maximum effectiveness of the fighter."

In the course of carrying out a certain mission, in the face of reconnaissance and harassment by aircraft of a certain country, Li Ling and his comrades-in-arms maintained a state of duty vigilance around the clock and successfully completed the task. After that, Li Ling led the pilots to compare and analyze the performance characteristics of the aircraft of the two sides, summarized and formed tactical suggestions for coping with tactics and multiple sets of effective tactical tactics, which provided a sufficient experience reference for the follow-up mission troops.
