The 2021 Rioja Masters, organized by The Drinks Business, one of the wine industry's most influential publications, has come to an end, with the best wines of Rioja selected by blind tasting.
In this selection, Ysios Finca el Nogal 2017 was named one of the top ten best wines of 2021. Ysios Finca el Nogal 2017 is a single garden wine launched by Bodegas Ysios, made using 100% Rioja D.O.Ca Tempranillo, with a unique flavor and Viñedo Singular certification. Patrick Schmitt, editor-in-chief of The Drinks Business, said: "This wine has the unique flavor of Rioja wines. This wine is made from Tempranillo, grown in a 70-year-old vineyard at an altitude of more than 570 metres above sea level in Rioja Alavesa, and aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, all of which give this wine a unique and complex flavor: black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, vanilla, roasted coffee and various spices with a long aftertaste. ”
Tasting Notes:
• Appearance: Dark garnet cherry red, high layering.
• Aroma: Complex and intense with notes of blackcurrant, plum, blackberry, licorice, roasted coffee and spices.
• Palate: Juicy, broad and layered on the palate with hints of forest fruits, black plums, blackberries and roasted coffee beans. Long lasting and nuanced aftertaste.
