Recently, Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd., and China State Shipbuilding Industry & Trading Co., Ltd. and SAIC Anji Logistics Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SAIC Motor Group Co., Ltd., officially signed two 7600 vehicle dual-fuel powered vehicle transport ships (PCTC) construction contracts.

This type of ship is independently developed and designed by the Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute under China Shipbuilding Group, has completely independent intellectual property rights, and is also the largest dual-fuel powered PCTC in the world so far, marking a historic breakthrough in China's shipbuilding industry from running, innovating to leading in this field. The signing of the project will help CSSC and Jiangnan Shipbuilding to enhance the influence and competitiveness of the ship type market, expand the customer network through cooperation with large car companies, make the main platform of China Shipbuilding Group's ship and sea business bigger and stronger, and help China Shipbuilding Group achieve high-quality development.

The total length of the ship is 199.9 meters, the width is 38 meters, the depth is 15.5 meters, the structural draft is 10.2 meters, the service speed is 19 knots, the classification DNV and the China Classification Society (CCS), with strong cargoability, large loading flexibility, high emission cleanliness, low fuel consumption, flexible operation, high reliability of equipment, convenient maintenance and strong profitability, etc., can meet the continuous upgrading of the strategic positioning of the automobile and shipping industry and the adjustment and planning of the fleet structure, and adapt to the changing trend of production, consumption and transportation of the international automobile industry. It is a new generation of ultra-Panamax car transport ship that complies with the latest international rules.

This type of ship is designed as a single-machine, single-propeller, single-rudder, stern-type car transport ship with multiple layers of continuous decks. The propulsion method adopts a dual-fuel low-speed machine with fixed-pitch oars, and the crew living cabin and wheelhouse are located in the middle front of the ship. This type of ship uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the main fuel, and in the fuel selection, it takes into account both the traditional fuel MGO and the low-sulfur HFO, with high fuel flexibility, good green energy-saving performance, and the impact on the environment is minimized. When using LNG fuel, the energy efficiency ratio of this type of ship can be greatly improved, its carbon dioxide emissions are significantly reduced compared with the same type of ship, it meets the latest international green emission regulations, and meets the requirements of the 2025 Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI); equipped with WinGD's iCER technology, which further improves fuel efficiency and reduces methane escape.

It is worth mentioning that the main engine and iCER system, LNG enclosure system, gas supply system and ro-ro equipment system of this type of ship are all products of enterprises or scientific research institutes under The China Shipbuilding Group, which significantly improves the localization rate of the core equipment of this type of ship, and is of landmark significance in the history of the construction of large ro-ro ships in the mainland.

The vessel is suitable for a variety of new energy vehicles, including pure electric vehicles (BEV) / hybrid vehicles (HEV) / fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) / alternative fuel vehicles (AFV). The ship has a total of 13 decks of vehicles and 4 active decks; the net height of the deck is tailored based on the actual model of the owner; all decks are equipped with electric vehicles, 11, 12 and 13 decks are suitable for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and natural gas vehicles; 5 decks are suitable for dangerous goods and MAFI trailers.

The ship adopts the innovative design of the long straight ramp streamline, which improves the efficiency of port loading and unloading, and is equipped with the intelligent ship system developed by Shanghai Shipyard to uniformly collect the information and data of the whole ship, which can realize the centralized management of the software and hardware computing resources of the whole ship network and the intelligent ship system. The ship also established a finite element model of the whole ship to check the strength of all structures of the whole ship, and strive for excellence in structural safety.

The project is the first time that Jiangnan Shipbuilding has carried out large-scale LNG fuel vehicle transport ship design and construction cooperation with top domestic automobile ship owners, and the successful signing of the project has truly realized the "national ship national construction, national vehicle national transportation" of China's automotive industry.
