Pattaya, Thailand, plans to join the Sandbox Program to receive overseas tourists

Thailand network reported that on January 18, the president of the Eastern Thai Hotel Association revealed that the current spread of the new coronavirus Amy Kerong mutation strain has once again impacted the Thai tourism industry, after the Thai government announced the suspension of the quarantine-free entry policy, the Chonburi Tourism and Sports Office and the Tourism Bureau proposed to change the form of receiving foreign tourists in the Pattaya area of Chonburi Province, that is, it is proposed that foreign tourists can enter Pattaya through the form of sandbox plan.

Pattaya authorities are discussing relevant health and epidemic prevention measures after tourists enter the country, requiring tourists to stay in local hotels for 7 days after entering the country, during which RT-PCR tests are carried out twice, tourists need to use relevant applications to check in at the field they visit, and use GPS systems to record tourist itineraries. In addition, it is proposed to set up a command centre to coordinate departments to more efficiently grasp the situation of tourists in the Pattaya area.

The above proposal has been initially approved by the Chonburi Infectious Disease Control Committee and will be submitted to the Ministry of Tourism and the Meeting of the Epidemic Control Centre for further approval.
