"Love in the World" Master Hongyi, Master Feng Zikai Calligraphy and Painting, Xinzha Manuscript Exhibition exhibits a total of 10 calligraphy and paintings of Master Hongyi (commonly known as Li Shutong) and nearly 100 classic cartoon sketches of Feng Zikai, presenting the artistic temperament of the two masters of art and the artistic spirit of "teaching only love".

In 20th-century China, two masters of art, Master Hongyi and Feng Zikai, shone in the painting world, they were not only masters and apprentices, but also close friends and artistic confidants.
Li Shutong was a pioneer of China's new cultural movement, and he combined a variety of talents such as painting, calligraphy, music, and seal engraving. In 1918, Li Shutong took refuge in Buddhism and was revered as Master Hongyi. Feng Zikai is a student of Master Hongyi, an outstanding literary and artistic master in modern China, and the originator of Chinese comics.
Feng Zikai once said that the reason why Li Shutong became Master Hongyi was the process of sublimation from art to religion, which is a matter of course. This kind of spiritual understanding between teachers and students is rare in the world. Behind this touching teacher-student relationship, the most praised in the world is the "Nursing Picture Collection". This set of paintings was jointly conceived by Feng Zikai and Master Hongyi in the autumn of 1927, Feng Zikai painted, and Master Hongyi wrote poems, intended to promote benevolence and persuade people to quit killing and be good. In 1942, after the death of Master Hongyi, Feng Zikai overcame difficulties and endured illness and continued to complete a total of 450 paintings in six episodes to promote true love in the world.
Both masters have left a strong mark on the history of Chinese culture and art. The exhibition of "Love in the World" master Hongyi, Master Feng Zikai's calligraphy and painting, and Xinzha manuscript exhibition carefully selected more than 100 pieces (sets) of works by the two masters for display.
The exhibition is composed of five chapters: "Innocence, Childlike Heart", "All Tastes, All Life", "Paintings in Poems, Poems in Paintings", "Sentient World, Protecting Life and Protecting Hearts", "Simple and Perfect, Fireworks Fading", and a total of six parts.
This exhibition is also the Sunflower Museum's New Year's first exhibition in 2022.

Entering the exhibition hall, the atrium is a couplet written by Master Hongyi in 1932 from the "Jin Translation of the Dafang Guangfo Huayan Sutra", which has not been deliberately carved, but infused with the author's artistic heart.
On the other side of the exhibition hall, Feng Zikai's comic works such as "Daddy is Back", "Zhan Zhan Di Car" and "Tell Mr. Tell Mr." have attracted many art lovers to stop and appreciate. As the "highlight" of this exhibition, "ZiKai Comics" is not only a strange branch in the hundred gardens of Chinese comics, but also a precedent for Chinese lyrical comics.
From ancient poems and new paintings, children's portraits, to student phases, social phases, and then to urban phases and wartime phases, Feng Zikai's comic themes are all-encompassing. Children, peddlers, beggars, and countrymen have become his regular customers, he is like a person with a heart, with infinite compassion, outlining the people and things around him, inadvertently, he can touch the heartstrings of the public.
For example, in the work "Make Money Don't Make Money, Don't Make Money", on the one hand, there are rich people in small upstairs suits and straight clothes, leisurely smoking pipes, and on the other hand, poor people carrying large boxes downstairs to sell their strength. For Feng Zikai's comics, it is better to say "read" than to "read", because behind the painting, there is a real society, a real history. As Feng Zikai once expected, "I hope that my paintings can make people think in addition to looking at them." ”
