According to the deployment of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, on January 17, Huang Luqi led a delegation to visit the headquarters of the World Health Organization to discuss cooperation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional medicine with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Ambassador Chen Xu of the Chinese Permanent Mission in Geneva and Susannah, Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organization, attended the talks throughout the talks.
Huang Luqi introduced that President Xi Jinping announced at the 8th ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to provide another 1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Africa, and stressed the importance of solidarity against the epidemic and vaccine fairness at the World Economic Forum video conference held on the morning of January 17. During the talks, Tedros highly appreciated President Xi Jinping's discussion on the importance of solidarity in the global fight against the new crown epidemic and the fairness of vaccines, and the Chinese government's support for Africa. Huang Luqi said that President Xi Jinping highly affirmed the anti-epidemic achievements of traditional Chinese medicine, and on June 2, 2020, he presided over a symposium of experts and scholars, pointing out that "the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine and the simultaneous use of Chinese and Western medicine are a major feature of this epidemic prevention and control, and also a vivid practice of inheriting the essence of traditional Chinese medicine and keeping integrity and innovation", and introduced the first national traditional Chinese medicine medical team in Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital to carry out epidemic treatment and treatment, as well as the characteristic advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in epidemic prevention and control and treatment.
On behalf of the China Center for Evidence-Based Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Huang Luqi submitted the "Research Report on the Evidence-based Evaluation of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Treatment of COVID-19" to Tedros, which systematically evaluated the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine with scientific methods. Tedros readily accepted the study. Suzanne expressed her deep admiration and touch for the delegation's visit at a time when the current global epidemic situation is still severe, especially the Aomi Kerong mutant strain.
Huang Luqi stressed that China is a big country in traditional medicine, whether in the use of traditional Chinese medicine, or in international exchanges have achieved rich experience and fruitful results, played a leading role in the development of global traditional medicine, carried out good cooperation with the World Health Organization, and made important contributions to the development of global traditional medicine.
