Recently, market research institute Canalys announced the volume of PC market shipments for the fourth quarter and full year of 2021.
According to the report, the global PC market shipped more than 90 million units for the second consecutive year in the fourth quarter of 2021. Global shipments of desktops, laptops and workstations increased 1% year-over-year to 92 million units, up from 91 million a year ago.
Based on this, the global PC market generated 341 million units in 2021, up 15% from last year and 27% from 2019, the largest shipment since 2012.
Canalys believes the industry's revenue growth is strong, with total Q4 shipments estimated at $70 billion, up 11% from the fourth quarter of 2020. Revenue for the full year 2021 exceeded $250 billion, up 15% compared to $220 billion in 2020.
At the same time, the report also shows the PC market shipment rankings in the fourth quarter and the whole year of last year. The ranking of manufacturers in the two lists is basically the same.
Among them, Lenovo ranked first in the PC market with 21.7 million units in the fourth quarter of last year, although it fell by 6.5% year-on-year, but still ranked first in the full year ranking.
HP ranked second in both the fourth quarter and the full year, with 18.7 million shipments in the fourth quarter, reaching 74.1 million for the whole year; Dell ranked third, with 17.2 million units shipped in the fourth quarter, achieving 59.3 million units for the whole year; Apple ranked fourth, with 6.58 million units shipped in the fourth quarter, reaching 28.95 million units for the whole year.
On the whole, whether in the fourth quarter of 2021 or the whole year of 2021, Lenovo occupies the top spot in shipments. Among them, Apple's annual shipments have the most year-on-year growth, which is also due to Apple's continuous updates to the MacBook series of products.
In addition, the research institute IDC has also released preliminary results for quarterly tracking of PC devices.
The report at the time showed that the total shipment of PC equipment for the whole year of 2021 reached 348.8 million units, an increase of 14.8% over 2020. This is the highest level of shipments in the PC market since 2012. This is consistent with the conclusions reached by Canalys.
In terms of specific market rankings, Lenovo ranked first, HP ranked second, Dell ranked third, Apple ranked fourth, and Acer ranked among the top five.
