Beijing, January 19 (Xinhua) -- A number of cultural facilities have been built in preparation for the Beijing Winter Olympics, expanding the city's public cultural space. By the end of 2021, 43 Winter Olympic Cultural Squares will be built nationwide, covering 19 provinces, autonomous regions and cities, providing a platform for the public to experience the Winter Olympics and participate in winter fitness.

On January 19, the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee released the "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Report Collection (2022)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"), which introduces the pre-Game legacy of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games from seven aspects, including sports, economy, society and culture.

Add public cultural space to the city

The "Report" mentioned that driven by the preparation of the Beijing Winter Olympics, a number of Winter Olympic cultural facilities have been built across the country, consolidating the foundation for the dissemination of Winter Olympic culture. By the end of 2021, 43 Winter Olympic Cultural Squares will be built nationwide, covering nineteen provinces, autonomous regions and cities, providing a platform for the general public to experience the Winter Olympics and participate in winter fitness.

The construction of a number of Winter Olympic communities has made ice and snow sports close to the people and enhanced the community's cultural environment. "Beijing Winter Olympic Park", "Yanqing Olympic Park" and "Zhangjiakou Chongli Olympic Park" were set up in the three divisions, with the "Olympic" brand as the link, adding a new public cultural space to the city and driving the overall development of sports, culture and tourism in the region.

In addition, the Beijing International Olympic Academy has also been set up in the preparation of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games to build a high-end Olympic research and talent training platform; the Chongli Overseas Chinese Ice and Snow Museum and the Prince Edward City Archaeological Site Park will be built into a research base and dissemination window for the Winter Olympic culture.

Promote cultural and sports exchanges between China and foreign countries

The "Report" pointed out that in the process of preparing for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, with the host city as the center, sports as the theme, and culture as the content, making full use of the preparation of various important nodes, a series of various forms of ice and snow and Winter Olympic cultural activities were held, forming a series of brand culture, art and knowledge dissemination activities such as the "National Youth Ice and Snow Culture and Art Creation Competition", "National Ice and Snow Open Class", and "China Ice and Snow Caravan", which promoted the spread of Winter Olympic culture in China.

The "Report" mentioned that the design and creation of the Beijing Winter Olympics series of cultural products vividly reflects the integration of Olympic culture and Traditional Chinese culture, and drives Chinese design and Chinese manufacturing.

A series of Winter Olympic image logos such as the emblem, torch, mascot, sports icon, medal, color system and core graphics of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games highlight the theme of ice and snow, highlight Chinese characteristics, and embody the cultural spirit of the times of China's development.
